Default Combining keyword phrases in Domain name?

Hi

If an exact domain name is not available, is it recommended to combine two keyword phrases? Will this have a good influence on rankings?

for example, "Best Widgets" gets 20,000 type ins per month. "Widgets for sale" gets 14,000 type ins per month - neither are available as EMD's. "Best Widgets for Sale" is available as a domain name - if i bought this name, could i expect easier rankings in the search engines or both phrases?

thanks

A web domain name places an important part for the success of your business. Try your highest to fix a short and sweet domain name. You can combine two short keyword phrases to form a single domain name.

Yes, it is a good practice. Although, EMDs seems to raise a spam flag on Google and they watch those sites much more carefully. If you don't spam though, it is no problem.

I think exact matchs in domains are much less necessary these days. Remember it's easy to get a keyword in a URL anyway.

Just ensure the page on the website has the keyword phrase in it.

e.g. domain dot com/keyword-phrase.html

I would recommend you look at domains with your example with a generic keyword in it (possible the major keyword for the niche). e.g. widgets in your example.

Although pretty well any domain can rank for a given keyword, there is still evidence that having a keyword in your domain name (or a partial one) will help a bit. Just how much is the unknown factor.

Content is going to be far more important than the domain name ultimately anyway.

Cheers

Tim

I agree with Tim (above). I wouldn't sweat over it that much. Yes they say keyword in domain helps, but that doesn't mean you cant rank without the keyword in domain.

My domain is BlogStash.com. It ranks for pretty much all the major keywords in my niche (make money online), yet it doesn't even have any keyword in the domain. But, thankfully I can make sure that the urls of my individual posts do have the keywords in them, so it really works the same way.

All that said, if you can combine two keywords or phrase and get the domain, why not go for it. I mean, if you can get it, then get it.

Good luck.

Yep! This is good technique and i think it will help you in ranking of keywords on search engine. Eventually search engine give good ranking against keyword in domain name.

I Agree. The trend now a days is to have a domain name with the keywords. If not then be sure to have it on the URL. But for me I trust more a domain name that doesn't have keywords. It means they have more established content and not just dependent on the domain name to be ranked high.
