Hi, I want to build one authority site with a broad/general topic, targeting several keywords, monetized with AdSense. According to a list (SpyFu's list), insurance and loans are the top profitable topics to choose if one wants to make money with AdSense. Is that really true? Looking at SpyFu's top topics list, is that a reliable way when choosing the general topic? What about electronics, home equipments, games, health, sports, foods, etc. etc.? |

Good question, What is hot today does not mean it will be tomorrow as I have learned over the years, but there are some topics which will always be productive, weight loss is one which never deminishes in popularity over all these years I have been focused on weight loss and health issues. Given the severe recession we are in, seek out topics which are recession proof. I focus on foreclosure prevention information which is one of the hottest topics in these difficult times. With millions in foreclosure, and millions more facing foreclosure, there will always be an unending need for information for how to save a homeowners home. Also popular is showing people how to save money on items they are already purchasing, another growing market as unemployment is getting worse, even with the fudged figures gov. posts. So saving money is what people are most interested in these days. Success to all, |

Education type Ads do well. Really anything that's expensive to buy, is also expensive as a keyword on Adwords, which pays out well with Adsense. Look at what cost you the most money offline around your home or office in 2011, & make a list working from highest cost to lowest cost, those are your best paying broad keywords. |

To tell you the truth, nobody's going to spill their niche for you over here. What would work best for you is to do your own keyword research and see what keywords you're comfortable targeting and think you can rank for. "Weight Loss" might be the best possible niche in the market, along with "Loans" and "Insurance", but you need to see whether it's within your reach.

I'm not looking for a hot topic that disappears tomorrow. I'll build a long term and rock solid income online that I can rely my financial life on. I'm considering building an authority health site. The general topic will be health, but I'll start one by one and target more specific niches and keywords in the health market. I often hear that health market is very profitable. But health products is not so insanely expensive, and according to the list, it has these datas: health (CPC) $3.17 (clicks/day) 16,943.5 (cost/day) $53,710.89 So health market is not so profitable or? And, according to James Robinson (aka X-Factor, "Authority Site AdSense Guide"), when building authority sites, the keywords datas (like number of searches, competitions, CPC etc.) is not so important at all. Is that true? |

Just go do your own research. Type in something in the room you're in and then check out the related terms until you find your own niche that you're comfortable with. It's not as hard as it sounds really. It just takes work to make money, contrary to what the internet will tell you, even in Internet Marketing. | |

I would stay away from the really high paying keywords if you are just starting out. Those will be very hard to rank for you will not see good rankings for a very long time even with good/constant link building. Just go to go google keyword tool and type in a broad topic keyword. Then the taget the BUYING KEYWORDS with at least 1000 exact local (USA) searches and a CPC of $1.00. After you have your list google the keyword the " " around the keyword and look how many search results there are. I personally like under 500,000 but the lower the better. If you are just staring out try to start with the keywords that have under 100,000 results.
