How do you build backlinks without coming off as spam? I know it is recommended to build backlinks from relevant sites, but what if there really aren't that many relevant sites to build backlinks on? If I'm building backlinks on an irrelevant site/blog, how do I do so without coming off as spam? What kind of web owner wants a comment on their page with a link to a totally off topic site? Sometimes it's hard to find sites with high PR in the same niche as your in. |

Hello! You can and should add your site to bookmarking sites; there is a huge number of them out there. What you can also do is add comments to blogs, but simply provide some value. Only post on blogs where you can type in your website as part of the information, next to nickname and email. Then you don't have to mention your site itself, as it's in the poster information already. Does this make sense? Takes a bit of time and effort, though ![]() Allen |

So whenever you comment on a blog, and it ask for your information: name, website, etc. When you type your website in, that automatically counts as a backlink, therefore you do not need to mention your site in the actual comment?

You're welcome! And yes, if I'm not mistaken, the username/nickname usually turns into a link to your site, or the link appears as an extra text under your name. It depends on the blogging software, of course. And don't worry. The search engines will see that link; they see any link pointing to you, no matter where it is. Allen |

If there aren't any web properties out there like yours to link from start your own. Register a domain and host in a new name and create a site which links 1 way to your real site. Push out unique relevant content on both sites and there you go. However there are sites like Squidoo and Hubpages which have great SEO value, I would post at least one piece of unique content on those sites with a one way link to your site. Since the content is fresh and its utilizing their domains SEO it should rank relatively well and pass off some SEO value to your site. If you wanted to get even more advanced, build Squidoo and Hubpage posts which link to deeper parts of your website. I guess the bigger question is, if there are not many people with niches like yours... shouldn't it be easy to rank? |

In addition to what DynaPass mentioned, you can make a blog on wordpress.com, which is a site that has high pagerank already, so your blog would get it, too. Then you just put something simple on it and a few backlinks to your actual site, thus providing yourself with nice PR backlinks ![]() Allen |

And then of course there is the anchor text question: you don't want the link with your name that much as with your desired keyword. But on the other hand, writing "weight loss" or "make money online" as your name is already considered spamming.

warrior forum is an internet marketing and seo forum. However, we can talk a lot of things here like how to raise a pig (off topic section) or something like unrelated to seo. You can see people having a signature pointing to their seo company websites yet they are participating in a thread where you can find tips on how to raise pigs. They talk like a professional hog raisers and doesn't actually making a spam posts or a link drop. See the point? Now, relevancy is a big asset in SEO. Yes it is. But the truth still remains that as long as a particular link passes juice to another, you can still benefit from it. You can build backlinks without making a spam through contents. (something like "linkbait") or other interesting stuffs that may catch users attention. You can make a blog networks all pointing to your site. Just avoid posting a junk content or article to it so that you can get the possible highest potential value of those contents. |

You could try writing some articles that is related to your niche and submitting them to article directories such as EzineArticles. Remember to include the link to your website in the resource box so that webmasters can link to your website if they want to use your content.

Even if you are making comments on irrelevant blogs, make sure your comment is relevant to the post. That way, the blogger finds value in your comment and you increase your chances of getting the comment approved, thus getting a backlink. Have you tried finding if there are any niche directories for your niche? Getting listed in them can be helpful. |

All great advice. I like to see people talking about posting quality content to get back links. There are many people building links by blindly sending out spun versions of junk articles when it's so much more effective to syndicate a quality article to well-put-together blogs and article sites. The whole dup content monster has turned link building into an automated spamfest. I love the automated tools, but I've always used them to distribute quality. I would also recommend setting up a Google Alert for your keywords. You can then visit news articles and blogs and write relevant comments under the articles. You can even get good traffic from this if you're quick enough. It takes some time in the beginning because you often have to create an account to submit a comment, but it's worth the effort in the beginning. |

Posting on forums with your niche. Making real comments on blogs. Social bookmarks. I guess just trying being natural and throw your link in everyone's face. The only problem I've noticed is my backlinks are not showing up on alexa or traffic travis for my website. Only a few and I left close to a hundred. ![]() ![]() |

Link building should be multi tiered. If so many of your links arent being indexed, I'd recommend bookmarking those links that make sense (articles and blog posts) and it may work well for you to throw your links into something like backlinks energizer. Backlinking your backlinks is a must. And don't forget to submit content to rss and ping everything.
