Google Adwords Keyword Tool if you go for free and Market Samurai and SEO Spyglass if you go for the paid tools.

My favorite Keyword Tool is Google Adwords I have used for a while. Especially if you have a site which has let's consider Google adsense textual content ads on it. It’s awesome device to examine search term bid costs and styles.

You can use Keyword Blaze to do your initial keyword research (it's free and more feature rich than the Google keyword tool itself) and then expand your research using Market Samurai which is also free for the first 40 days (make sure to use the Ed Dale option when opening your account).
