Getting back to basics -

- Write content for your visitors and not Search Engine
- Use Social Media Tools so that your visitors can share your content (They will if you will write content for them)
- Get backlinks from Relevant Forums or Blogs and not just any DoFollow or Irrelevant Blogs or Forums

That's just basic. This is how any popular site gets popular. Don't indulge yourself in any Black Hat Tricks or Short Cuts.

Yes, regular fresh content is the most important factor. Second is link building - build backlinks from relevant sites (forums, blogs, directories etc). Higher the PR of the site linking to you, the better.

Always follow the rules that has been prescribed by Google team.

Do work and research on onpage and offpage optimization. Never stuff keywords they wont get you good results unless they are put up according to the necessity like the amount of salt to the tub of flour. lol....

Make sure you have good site navigation and great on page seo.

Don't spam the keyword you want to rank for all over your page. Keep it natural.

which keywords I should use in meta tags for good ranking?

The keywords from the cetagories or better the long tail keywords from my deeper page?

Some say when you build an silo structure, that the keywords from the categories you should use in meta tags. But I have not a silo structure website, soI have the deeper long tail keywords in my articles /product review sites, so should I use these keywords in the meta tags?

Try to get ranked for particular keywords you would like traffic from.

Some ways to get ranked on the first page for particular keywords is:

1. Try your content goes viral and starts spreading itself. (For this you need useful and unique content)

2. Try Blog Commenting and Forum posting using the right keywords for your links. (Link to DoFollow Signature Forum in my Signature )

3. Pay for backlinking. (I wouldn't recommend this as Google can see a sudden influx of links to your website as 'unnatural' and may deindex your website completely)

Primary is the keyword I try to rank for and the secondary is an related key (or lsi) similiar to the primary keyword I try to rank? Is this correct?

Then I must put primary and secondary keyworsds in the meta tags and the little broader keyword for the categorie first in meta tags look like this:

Example garden grills categorie= garden grills

Meta tags I must set so: garden grills,webber grill 2000, webber grill bestseller
Webber grill bestseller here is an example of an secondary keyword from webber grill 2000.

Is this right so?

In order to rank and how Google finds your page relevant is by the way the page is optimized for certain keywords. For example a dog shop will be based around dogs...

So with some keyword research, you need to identify a primary (what you think is most relevant and what you can rank well for) keyword and start optimizing that page for that keyword, so Google can give you the thumbs up

You usually convert Meta title ad your meta description. Whether Meta Keywords have relevance any more I don't know, but to be honest, I think you can be better off not using it, but it doesn't hurt to put in some Meta Keywords. Your Meta Keywords, could be your product brands and products if you like.
