Default Positive or Negative Reviews?

Hello Everyone,
I have a client he is a DJ/entertainer in the New York and Northern New Jersey area. Anyhow he asked me a question and I did not know what to tell him and told him I would get back to him about it. The question he asked is it better for him to do negative reviews on his competitors listings on sites such as Google Maps, Merchantcircle, Yelp, Yellow Pages etc. etc etc. or is it better for him to do postivie (Fake) reviews on his own listings on sites such as those? Or should he be doing a 50/50 split of both negative reviews on his competitors listing and postive reviews on his own listings?
Thanks for all your input and suggestions.

Neither!!

Both methods are FAKE and completely unethical...

How would he like his competitors writing negative reviews on his products without even purchasing them???

If I were you I would advise this joker to kindly ask his customers to write a review on his various web entities based on the true service.

Most people can pick a faked review these days, no matter how casual you make it sound.

In defense of my client they sometimes are doing that to him and also a lot are doing these methods and its nothing new. If your only intent is to say this is a bad and unethical thing he is doing then please dont reply to the thread. I am trying to get some information on if it is better to use his time for positive reviews for himself or do negative reviews on his competitors or should he do both and not your personal opinion on if this is right or wrong ethicaly what he is doing thank you.

I agree with Dave.

Tell him to put out a good service and solicit real reviews. There are too many fake reviews out there already.

That should not matter.

He should take it like water off a ducks back, remove them, and move on by growing his own business rather than knocking others down.

He needs to ask his customers to write real reviews about him, have a process in place where the link to write a review is clearly written on his website or email signature.

If he can't get good reviews from his clients than perhaps he should not be in business?

You, (as a professional business partner to your client), should not advise him of any unethical practices, trust me this can come and bite you in the ass.

Advise him of the ethical and most effective practices to take.

A review should be a review.

Ok in all fairness to both of you I also agree and have tried to tell him that real reviews from real past clients and customers are best but he is the client (boss) and wants to do this and so I am in a rock and a hard place. So if any of you have any advice on if its better to do negative reviews for his competitors or better for him to do positive reviews for himself or he should do both I would love to hear what you think.

-Yes, he is the client and he is pretty much the boss.

-You agree with the points above and have already advised him to do ethical practices.

Now you want to do a backflip and submit to a black and white choice of fake good reviews vs fake bad reviews?

You won't get a proper "i think posting negative reviews is the best solution" answer on this forum. I suggest you check out the many black-hat forums out there if you need advice on unethical practices.

fake reviews are common these days. In most cases those reviews can be deleted by moderator. If competitors are leaving bad reviews on his site,he know wassup, therefore able to delete them. So this is just waste of time. I do not give a damn whats ethical and whats not? Or maybe I should say fair competition ? LOL @ dadamson. This is great example of building links manually and doing with SB or Xrumer, senuke x or any BH method. Who gives a damn if it works. Work your way up to higher competition and you will get death letter for ranking your site. So do whatever it takes to conquer the world Calculate time, money invested, and if its worth doing ? Maybe do more backlinks rather then write ****ty reviews that can be moderated

OP, just because someone waves money in your face in exchange for something you don't think is the right thing to do, doesn't mean you have to take that money.

Show some respect for your own business & tell that client to hire someone else.

Obviously the client doesn't know how to run their own business, If they are looking for BH tactics.

Just like mother's say: just because someone else is doing it doesn't mean it's right. If you wanna do fake reviews for your own company, well, no ones gonna stop you but do not litter the Internet with negative fake reviews. Disgusting that people actually do that.

Agree with many comments on here....don't do anything fake....and don't bombard competitors with bad reviews..... everything you do in life will come back to you...

Have him ask for positive reviews from past customers...if he is good...he will rise above the competition...

Do everything organic and ethical in business..and you will come out on top!
