How else should I bring traffic to a site, besides search engines?

Hey all.

I love SEO, but I'm looking to expand myself and look for other ways to bring traffic to a site, let's say if the search engines are not bringing enough.

Any suggestions? Adwords, facebook ads maybe...? What others?

Depending on what you are offering need to make sure you have Google Local set up.

FalconPunch,

Grab a subscription to OnlyWire, Traffic Geyser or SYNND. There is way more server melting traffic out there then just Google. You want your message to get out to as many online properties (where people hang out) as possible.

And don't just do this once. Distribute your content each week. This will grow your online visibility and traffic.

There are lots of traffic sources you may count on aside from search engines, and here are the following:

1. Forums
2. Article Directories
3. Press releases
4. Video marketing
5. Web directories
6. Blog commenting
7. Guest posting

Adwords, Facebook PPC can brings you good targetted traffic. If you are promoting affiliate products, then use adwords,FB PPC to get good results.

Offline to online traffic e.g. using flyers?
Fiverr for Twitter and FB Fanpage traffic

Be creative... There are many ways of doing marketing online. Back around 2001-2002 I didn't know anything about SEO. I ran a music message board, it was a vbulletin and had to be creative on how to get people there. I brought in over 15,000 members through various marketing techniques, all which were free. Where is your audience? Go to them, get them there.

It’s been mentioned above but is worth repeating, Press Releases (that have been properly SEO'ed) can drive a ton of targeted traffic to your web site, and great back links to boot.

Blogs, article submission, social bookmarking, video, these all are be helpful to get more traffic to your site but only the need is to provide the quality content. And as due to the quality and useful content, people will attract to your site for more information and if you make interaction with them then it will be helpful for you to get more engagement of people and which be helpful to increase pagerank of your site.
