I have a site where I sell many different products, each with their own product page. I used to have the number 2 and number 3 position on the first page of google for 2 items that were variations of each other(one regular and the other a different flavor/ scent). Google panda update knocked'em out. Now I have someone writing some better product descriptions so that my backlinking may be more effective. However, I've searched google a couple of times for those particular product pages under the keyword phrase I've always used(backlinked) for them. I go through about 50+ pages of results and I don't see either page. I see other pages from my site for OTHER variations of the product, but not those 2 that were on the first page in position 2 and 3 prior to the panda. So I'm just wondering if google deindexes only select pages from a site rather than a whole site altogether. And if so, will adding better content cause them to reindex it or should I just focus on other products because that's just over now? Thanks. |

Yes, you can get Google to de-index pages you don't want them to index. The folks who can help you will be found here: Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum |

Google can de-index select pages try searching "site:yourdomain.com keywords here" to see if it comes up.

Yes. Google can and does index web pages. And they can and do selectively show up in different locations in their index for a lot of different reasons. One thing to think about is how your pages are RANKED in relation to all of the other related pages in their index. And Bill is right. The SEO forum is a good place to start reading and or searching. There are also some good Google SEO videos on YouTube. |

I will allow myself to throw in similar question so I do not have to start new thread. I hope herms will not be angry at me for this! ![]() Guys - can I hurt subdomain on web 2.0 properties with my backlinking?(if it is too much of it) Can google throw subdomain into sandbox without hurting whole domain? EXAMPLE: -There is XYZ.com "web2.0" service - it has like 200 000 of backlinks at least -I set up myblog.XYX.com property there - it is new, 1 week old, 5 backlinks only Now, If I start making big blasts of backlinks(1,000 let's say) normally such new site would be banned by google. But since it already has backlinks for main domain(XYZ.com) can Google hurt me if I add too many backlinks? Can google just hurt "myblog" domain by moving it into sandbox/giving it ban without hurting whole "XYZ.com" domain? |

Your terminology makes the question hard to understand. If you're asking if they will perform actual deindex (absolute removal from search results) for a single page, I've never heard of that. It's usually the entire domain goes down in flames this way. It's more likely you're talking about a severe drop in rankings rather than a deindex. Yes, that happens all the time to singular pages. It's likely the page you're talking about ranks very deeply, closer to #1000. |

Normally, if it was "normal page"(new domain, which I just bought) adding too many backlinks too fast would hurt it - such website can go sandbox or even be deindexed...I hope I made myself more clear now.

To answer your question, I don't think anyone could tell you for sure. Adding a massive amount of backlinks can be very unpredictable. I believe a subdomain is treated as a separate, new domain by Google, so any aging/authority of the old domain will probably not apply. I could be wrong, but this is the way I see it.

You can use the site: search operator to drill down to exact page level, instead of a standard site:www.domain.com search, which leaves you digging through SERPs to track down a single page. Example, page level site: search: site:www.warriorforum.com/adsense-ppc-seo-discussion-forum/537131-can-google-de-index-select-pages-site.html This type of search will show you If an exact URL is indexed or not in Google SERPs. |

The answer is yes, and to know for sure, type this in (without quotes): "inurl:http://www.yourdomain.com/your/possibly/deindexed/page.html"

Hello friends, Myabe I'm a little bit late to join the discussion but I"ve just seen an article that seems to answer the question of the topicstarter. Just look it over: seomoz.org/ blog / logic-meet-google-crawling-to-deindex Sorry for the spaces in the link as I just don't have the right to post links yet. I believe we should consider that way of index control as a basic for any of your sites today. |

If big G have deindexed those two pages, maybe you should promote other pages first, cuz you need to find why Google kicked those two pages first, and when you promote other pages you can do some promotion to those two pages as well. I think it would be more efficient.
