i'll be work for seo in my website, Once i do seo alexa ranking will be positive. now i won't do seo for my website, so loose my alexa ranking in lakhs its very low, so i need to get back my alexa ranking as earlier what can i do now, to get back my alexa ranking.

Alexa is a reflection of visitors to your site that have installed the Alexa toolbar plugin for their browser.
You should install it on your browser and at least your site visits will be counted in their ranking. Some general traffic will most likely help your ranking- hope this helps

Err, Ah, lets cover some basic information here, a lot of people make the mistake of assuming that Alexa is not a big deal in the world of SEO, that would be a huge judgement issue, Alexa is backed and indeed owned by Amazon.com which no only is one of the larger retail stores online but is also owns of the largest Hardware infrastructures on the face of the planet.

It used to be true that you could use cheap traffic to influence your ranking but that has changed as you might expect no business remains the same else they risk sudden destruction, its just the law of the jungle...

Another common mistake and outright "un true" Rumor, is that the only traffic that "counts" for Alexa is if you have your own toolbar installed, (Totally not true at all) a man would have to be daft to think that, simply because Alexa is not a toy, its a huge player, in the world of SEO, but so many people make the mistake of thinking that Alexa does not matter that it can be tricked or it can be fooled, but that is simply just not true at all.

It would be a huge mistake to not take into account Alexa in terms of how your website ranks.

Over the last few months Alexa has put into place several sophisticated methods of weighting traffic received, in fact, you can see that in many different ways.

Take for instance, this website.



Looking at the Alexa ranking, you might think that the number of backlinks would be a good indication of positive traffic growth, but what if Alexa is much more sophisticated than we give them credit for being.

What if Alexa can not only tell if a backlink is a good quality link but what if they can tell if the type of traffic that website is getting is cheap traffic from bots, or surf exchanges, what then, (sort of changes your outlook doesn't it)

Now, looking at this website, you can see that both the traffic and the backlinks do not support the idea that the sheer number of backlinks is a good thing at all, and it also can show you how important quality traffic can be, cheap is not always good.

The reason why I am sure of this is that second website is mine, the links and the traffic are quality, no tricks no BS, it really does pay to go with quality over cheapness because you get what you pay for and if you pay for cheap traffic you will get cheap results, and another interesting thing here is that my website, is all organic, not one single paid advertisement, or traffic source.

Quality content, Quality backlinks, Quality Authority websites will outperform all these tricks you see advertised all the time, (page one in google over night)

yep what they fail to tell you is that in one more night your right back to the bottom of the pile. I would rather have a long term average ranking than a page one for a few hours.

So, if you think you can Fool Alexa with cheap auto surf traffic, and lots of low quality backlinks Think again.

Why are you even worrying about your Alexa rank? Instead, spend the time to get good quality human traffic to your site and the alexa rank will follow. Search engine ranks will make it go up and down, well, has the affect to change it.

I agree with a previous poster... Alexa plays a role in SEO but only to a certain point. Alexa has become very good at evaluating traffic quality. In fact, the more organic traffic I get, the better my Alexa rank.

It never failed me on that, but you must give them time in order to get accurate results although they are still estimations. It's not perfect, and many folks will say that Alexa is worthless. Don't listen to them. Their just steering you in the wrong direction. That's typical to send you and your business into an abyss.

Listen to your gut feeling and it should tell you that Alexa plays a role or they wouldn't be there. Do you really think that hundreds of employees at Alexa are paid for doing nothing? Think again folks!

sounds like a good idea bernard, i think alexa plays a huge role, once i do my seo alexa rank will be positive but alexa need more seo stuff like blogs, bookmarking etc.,... if we get more backlinks better than yesterday stuff, then only alexa rank will be pulled up forward otherwise it will be negative . i think alexa need 24X7 stuff, that's way only we made it or else loose the alexa rank continously. its very crazy thing, iam very tired to get back positive alexa rank for my website.

By the way i get only search & referral traffic, it should be organic traffic i won't use any paid traffic & paid links, i think i'll go with a right way, i just get good search engine ranking in all Google, yahoo, & bing. my website will be #1 in all search engines, but in the alexa ranking its seems to be abnormal.

its a good question, what's the benefit & use of alexa ranking, once we work for seo in a website, most of the website owners doesn't knows what is seo, what they play a role on live, so they need only search engine ranking & alexa ranking in that way have to be work alexa ranking, once we work separately for alexa, in that passion, we get search engine as much as possible, but alexa its very difficult to get a rank & its a challenging task for child level website!

I find it hard to believe that junky websites rank in the top 100k but my well put together website sits at 1 million+. It makes sense that everytime your page load with the alexa widget that counts as a view.

Hahaha, yeah right! Only if all those users use alexa toolbar to visit your site. My experience is it takes about 2000 visitors a day to get under 500k Alexa score, and that's not doing anything fishy to inflate your numbers.

1. buy some ssh accounts ($10/year) for proxy, install toolbar yourself and visit your own site every day, with different ssh ip. I can get into >100k position easily with this method.

or

2. buy alexa ranking from seller.

yeah i agree with your point, my website is also getting 400 visitors per day, but its not help for alexa rank, it maintains only 500k no change, we have to work in different, alexa ranking is the most important aspects guys, pls aware of it!

This past Week I was interviewed by an Alexa marketing and service representative, So when I see nonsense posted online, by probably well meaning but UN-educated, warriors, my first reaction is to laugh.

But see there is a far greater danger here, there is a problem for other warriors who may come along and read this tread and actually believe this Barbara, Streisand, (B.S.) not related by the way...

While we were talking about the Alexa services, and discussing this very subject, we talked about how the Alexa service has evolved from what it was a few years ago, there are now very sophisticated metrics and analytics in place, in fact from what I saw on my Shared Screen, it was incredible what they can offer, in terms of visitor statistics, and none of which by the way has anything what ever to do with a toolbar,

To understand the changing landscape of this market you have to understand who Alexa really is and what they are doing.,

For those of you that knew this already, good on you, for those that did not know it, you should really pay attention because the Alexa Ranking system is no longer something that you can just use a proxy bot to artificially inflate your website stats.

Yes, in the past this worked, but now if you do it, you will pay a price, you may not notice it right away, but know it is coming, (I guarantee it people) Want to know why, because, that was part of what I recommended, do you feel badly about that, I dont, the reason why is simple, Google is taking a hit, between facebook, Microsoft, Pinterest, and other growing concerns, Alexa, aka Amazon, is looking at what they see as a gap in the market.

Just know that if your actively engaged in Cheating the Alexa system, that you will pay for that in the very near future, (if not already)

In the very near future Alexa is going to become much more important to the average marketer and small business person, (think off line consulting)

If you are engaging in fraud, stop it, because you do not want to be terminated by Alexa, if you think that Alexa is not important think again.

So, making friends with Alexa and abiding by the rules, is important to your future success,

Second, forget about the toolbar, it is not important, it is not used as a serious metric, simply because the data is not considered of value...

So yes in the past you could fool alexa, and you could use a toolbar, but those days are over, ok, take it for what its worth to you, believe it or not, Alexa is about to change in some really big ways and if your smart and in the right position to take advantage of this change you will profit in ways that you never thought about before.
