Depends on what kind. Spammy high OBL ones will not offer much value other than make you look good in some SEO tools. If you can manually comment on some and get some high PR with low OBL then they are great. Takes a lot of time though to do it this way. |

Yes I have tried .EDU and .GOV links, and they are really helpful for my blog and niche sites to rank well in Google, and to gain some traffic too.

I work with edu and gov for some years now ..and i can say they can really change your world. But i do not use blog comments , i only use contextual links and forum profiles . And also i have several blogs and domains of myself on a .edu.xx website free of charge where i can put everything i like. As a matter of fact i am thinking of launching a WSO to teach you to build your websites on a\ unlimited domains like this : keyword.edu.xx. You can get free registration and hosting up to 10 Gb per account. Are you thinking it is a good idea? Cheers |

EDU backlinks are no different from nay other type of link: 1. If they come from high quality pages that aren't spammed and carry PR or have a big backlinks profile - great. 2. If they are spammy profile or signature links. OR come from blog comments on spammed EDU pages - not so great. Just like any other link. No difference. EDU, GOV or COM, etc... |

Hi Guys, Don't run for edu or gov backlinks. Google doesn't give priority to them. Google check quality of the site where you backlinked. It doesn't matter from where backlink is coming. so work technically not blindly. So site quality if factor, not the edu, gov or .com or etc. enjoy! |

It works. But personally I avoid spammy links. I dont care if they are .edu, .gov or anything else. I spend my time digging for authority high pr places with low OBLs.

They work, but I'm not comfortable building them when there's over 200+ links/comments on a page and it's complete SPAM. Try to avoid that, even though it's almost impossible.. I always recommend link divertisity, edu, gov, com, net, info, etc.

Get links from everywhere including .edu and .gov if you can get them.

| Personally I don't bother with these. I've heard a lot of people swear by them, but this is not something I do myself.

Also worth noting that most "EDU" link sellers actually sell ****ty profile links on "edu" sites, lol. The only time I buy EDU links is if I can get my own blog on a university site (directly attached to it). I then post 2-3 1000 word posts there with my links in the content. After a PR update those post pages go to PR3/4. This is also true for any high PR blog, doesn't need to be EDU/GOV.

High PR .edu with good content, that's what can help your website. If it's just a random .edu site without content and high OBL, that's not going to help you much.

No offense, but it seems like you've read something somewhere while you don't have a clue whether it actually works, or not. Rest assured that 100 spammy blog links on edu domains (if indexed, of course) would easily outrank your 2-3 blog posts.

Edu/Gov backlinks are helpful in building link diversity, although they are relatively more difficult to get hold of. I've had some good results with them. But make sure not to depend only on Edu/Gov, as they should be just a part of your overall link building strategy.

Yes .edu links do actually work BUT if they are done right. As with many SEO links it is important to have it done well for maximum results. By this I mean actual .edu, low outbound links and a site with some authority. The idea about .edu sites are they have more authority given to them and more value in their link juice. Unfortunately a lot of ".edu" links you see advertised are for forum profile links which isn't the same as getting a link on a page/blog. I would think google can differentiate between a forum link and an actual .edu link. Buyer Beware that alot of people advertising "Pr 4-8 Links" are actually not Pr4-8 Links but forum profile links (quite misleading). The PR is not on page but on the root domain which of course still adds value but with something like a forum profile greatly devalues it. If it was a site on a side blog page it should still hold more value. These kind of links can still partially help you but not give you the full effect a .edu should.
