I had an organic listing of 15th. I did some SEO and noticed that my organic listing vanished all together and now I have a google places ranking of 3rd. Is it possible for the organic ranking to merge with the google places ranking? can you rank for google places and organically separably? I think the two merged in my thoughts. I am using rank checker it clearly showed me in 15th position. And now it is clearly showing me in 3rd. But when I check the placing it is a google places map position. Any thoughts? anyone ranking for both? Are the lines between the two beginning to blur? |

It happens, there is nothing you can do to control it though... at least I don't think so. Its just one of the quirks about local rankings. More often than not people click places though so I wouldn't worry about it.

The page that is in 3rd position in the Google 7-pack is that the only page you've done SEO on, or the majority of SEO? If so, create a new page & SEO until the new page ranks. If it's the plumber link in your forum sig., I see you at #3 in the Google 7-pack & yelp at position #1 in organic. So you still have room to improve as far as ranking additional pages, not that your doing anything wrong, obviously your already doing well for that keyword. |

Hi Yukon, yes it is the plumbers link you saw in the sig. I am in #3 as you see, I used to be 15 organically. The goal I had in mind was to rank in the 7 pack and also organically in the first position with the home page. Organically I disappeared and now only see the ranking in the 7 pack. You mentioned ranking additional pages I will try that next I was just shocked to have the Organic disappear. It used to be you could rank the same page in the 7 pack and also rank the same home page in the organic position on the first page. I have seen others loose the same placement I lost and only show the 7 pack. You are right I was only doing seo for the home page as a request but I am going to work on a few other pages and see what happens. thanks for your thoughts! |

if you want to rank organically then you need to work on inner page of website so you can rank with inner page and local listing together

i noticed the same thing. We rank very well (like top 3) usually but on the page that our Google Places listing show up - Absolutely no rankings at all for at least 10 pages. however in other cities (where places doesn't show up). the organic pops back up again. I've been wrecking my brain over this for weeks and now I understand why. I though about it and then figured that the only variable between this page and the others is that the Google Places listing appears on the page (the one void of organic) listing. I guess that the new rule. Fortunately our places is in A posistion and run ppc thats also in position 1 99% of the time. |
