Default How do Subdomains affect SERP?

The Question:

How do Subdomains affect search engine results page?

It's simple question that I haven't found an answer to. Maybe someone out there has tested this.

The Problem

Let's say I want to target the keyword phrase "recipes for fondue"

I might want to register recipesforfondue.com as the domain.

But what if it's taken?

Possible Solution?

I might register forfondue.com as the domain and create a subdomain: recipies.forfondue.com

My gut tells me that recipiesforfondue.com is better in google's eyes than recipies.forfondue.com.

Is there a difference?

recipesforfondue.com vs recipies.forfondue.com

How much better do you think one is over the other?

They don't effect SERPs at all. Why would they?
That would be another one on the list of
voodoo SEO.

Subdomains are treated as if they were separate
domains.

In your case, you would get much better juice from
forfondue.com/recipes

"Juice" meaning not having to promote what is another
domain, get valuable internal linking from the main
domain, and a better visitor experience.

You must not use Sub Domains because you will face a lot of difficulties on its SEO, specially in link building because most of the directories requires only main domain and same case is also with social bookmarking sites. You will miss a lot of link building sites by creating a sub domain
