Default Backlinks-how much and how do they influence rank?

Hello Warriors,

Firstly-forgive me if my question is "too simple" for you but I am a beginner in the field of SEO. I am constantly adding back links for my website. I add like 4 links twice a week. I use backlinks published by one of the members of this forum, so they are top rank pages and everything is OK with them.

In last two weeks I have added some links, but to my surprise my page went down from 2nd page onto 3rd(8th place). I know that when you add links your website can go down for a while BUT it should bounce back higher-right? In my case this situation lasts too many days I think. What is the reason for that? Did I get some kind of penalty from Google? Maybe I add to much(or not enough) links?

What is the maximum number of new backlinks that can be created per week so Google does not find that suspicious? Should I just wait and add more links or should I worry?

Google is good in recognizing patterns. It's not only that, it's also the density of keywords. Probably some other websites got a better density and has an increased number of quality backlinks, which pushed them up. And you basically just fall behind.

You have to continue to add back links to your site, this is one of the best ways to improve SERPs.

Also pay attention to on-page SEO, make sure you are targeting the right keywords without spamming, images are using alt tags, make good use of titles and descriptions, publish new content, etc.

You should also add back links that are on theme, this helps the SE's to recognize authority.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the number of back links. The problem really becomes one of keeping pace of back links you have created. For example, if one week you get 100 the next week none, this is what G flags, IMO. It's best to test your own methods and stick to what works.

You're doing great IMO, disi. Just keep on building your links, avoiding link farms and focusing on sites relevant to your website content. Target keywords used in your link text to reflect your site content and don't build too many links in a relatively short period.

If you use web and article directories in your link building strategy, do your submissions manually and avoid submission services as these could result in too many backlinks to your website built over a relatively short period. Google frowns at this.

Be consistent and in a while you'll see your SERPs shoot up. Good Luck.

Check to see if the sites you are adding links to use the rel=nofollow tag. THis tells the search engines that your site has no "value" and thus will not pass pagerank. These links may help you to get indexed but will not help you with SEO

Make sure you do some article directory submissions and the granddaddy of em all is ezinearticles.com and make sure you learn how to put hyperlinks for your main keywords on the author section of your article.
