Whatever you're doing to get to the top of Google you will need to make consistent efforts to continue that pattern.

Yeah SEO sucks Since I started offering services I don't even have time for my own site anymore and it dropped as well lol after 3 months of no new links. Damn Google.

To be a little more specific about what you can do without it taking too much effort, is to build high PR dofollow blog comments at unspammed pages (preferably relevant but those can be hard to find), the juice coming from these is pretty okay, then try to mix in some new web2.0's now and then and don't be afraid to do some nofollowing comments, these help great for diversity.

I would also like to suggest to do some article distribution through blog networks but you have to be carefull with that. The only reason I still use it is cause it still works great but I use 5 different blog networks to spread the risk. Even after the latest deindexing hype I haven't noticed anything on any of the sites I worked on. Purely cause I spread it widely enough.

It's very simple, when I build 700 links, of which 500 go to those blog networks, and one of them gets completely wiped out, like HPRS with 95% deindexing then I still have >600 links left. Google won't move an inch cause of that. HPRS is almost completely rebuilded again and by the time Google finds another victim I will have already created a new buffer of links to survive.

That's why continuation and varying up your links so important, not primarly cause Google likes to see different links that much (well they do like it a bit) but more to have a large buffer, especially in these times.

Another thing I often hear is that sites are getting penalized and people recieve a message about unnatural linkbuilding. Yeah when you get only links from 1 platform it leaves a huge footprint and that is the part that makes it so unnatural.

You have no idea how many people purely focussed on BMR cause it worked so great and they forgot about everything else. Imo that is the worse thing you can do when you care about your sites.


PS: Before all the Mikes jump in as in most threads you can also focus on pure high quality links, like rented homepage links at unspammed pages or from your own private network of sites. That would be even better but for most people with 1-2 sites or people just starting with their first micro niche site that will make like $30/month it's not worth the costs. Even a network as small as 5 sites wouldn't justify that

You actually know the answer. You were able to raise a site in Google search. Whatever method you used, it obviously worked. So, do more of that method. You're at the top, so you won't have to do as much work, but you'll need to go in "maintenance mode" and do at least a little bit of that type of work to maintain your position.

I believe the secret is to constantly look after your website and continue the SEO campaign. You have to imagine, you're not the only person who knows how to building links, your competition is constantly putting effort into achieving good SERP ranking. spends days on articles, make them amazing, do some original research. you need to do what other people in your niche do not do.

reach out to other webmasters, email them, post on their forums, do this in bulk. if you contact 20 webmasters, you might get a good link from one of them.

make sure your backlink text is a unique mix of targetted keywords, 'my site' variants, the domain name as the link & untargetted keywords. get links from body content, not just footers & sidebars.

Very broad question. On some keywords that are extremely easy to rank for-you could stay ranked 1 for a year or longer. However, competitive keywords need constant care. You have to keep feeding the landing page links, fixing the on page, etc.
