Default Wordpress Silo URL structure – which is the recommended way?

I want to build an authority site using Silo structure and I would like to target multiple broad markets in the same site. Let’s use computers as one of those markets for example.

So my first level category landing page is Computers.
Second level category pages are Laptops, Desktops, Computer Accessories, etc.
Third level category pages are Sony Laptop Reviews, Compaq Laptop Reviews, etc.
Suppose, I am writing a review about Sony VAIO VPCEH34FX/B under Sony Laptop Reviews categories.

If I set my permalink structure to /%category%/%postname%/, the URL looks like this:

hxxp: // www (.) domain (.) com/computers/laptops/sony-laptop-reviews/sony-vaio-vpceh34fx/b-review/ (I removed the default “category” using top level categories plugin).

It looks too long. Is it necessary to have category names in the URL or can I simply set the permalink structure to /%postname%/, which looks like this:
hxxp: // www (.) domain (.) com/ sony-vaio-vpceh34fx/b-review/

Which is better for SEO and fast loading. Please give your recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

Just stick to /%postname%/ i think the whole silo thing gets people confused just build your site normal but make sure the categorys are shown on the homepage there really isn`t any more to it than that i dont see where the problems are with this silo model ???

Mr Clickbump on this forum does the best silo model WP theme i`ve ever seen which is his Clickbump engine with the Premium Template Authority added with this you dont have to worry about a thing its all done for you.

Yes, just including the post name in the URL will work for you.

If you have all the categories listed in the menus of each webpage this will be more than enough.

The URL will look cleaner too.

Either way the load speed will not be affected by the URL length.

I've seen the theme, trust me it's not a silo theme.

That's the reason you don't have to do anything extra, it's a regular WP theme.

Basically, I just try to keep things simple. /%postname%/ seems to work well enough for me, although I do understand the benefits of having other keywords in your URL.

Thanks yukon. By the way, which URL structure would you recommend?
