I have a site and I have a country name in the domain. Example: www,BlueWidgetsInChina, com As a result, I'm ranking #1 for Blue Widgets in Google China. The page is optimized for information also for the US, though. It is written with information for both China and the United States. I want to rank higher in Google, com but I am stuck on page 2, and it is not really budging. I have considered changing the domain and properly doing a 301 redirect with the new domain, but I don't really want to go through with all the trouble, since I am linked to naturally from really authoritative websites. Will buying a new domain such as BlueWidgetsHQ,com or BlueWidgetsUSA,com and then redirecting that domain to my current domain help the situation a bit? I realize this is kind of a weird question that hasn't been brought up before in this forum and I appreciate your help. Thanks. |

Does all your backllinks pointing to your site are from Chinese webs? if yes then try to get authority backlinks from USA server hosted sites.

Oh no. Most of my links are from US websites. However, a lot of the high authority links that are from college websites and authority sites are from "China" Could this be more of the issue than having the country in the domain name? |

| If you set up a redirect that won’t impact your current ranking and links.. they all will be transferred to your new domain. So, if possible for you, go for 301 redirect. But in phases not in one go. |
