One of the most powerful seo secret is that ... you need backlinks! But... with a twist. Many beginners just get backlinks to their home page and that's it. Guess what? This is not the right way to do it. Listen up: 1. Whenever you create a new page for your site (are you creating new webpages on a daily, weekly basis? this will help you tremendously with your rankings), get a link or two pointing to this inner page in your site 2. Add this new page in your sitemap (I hope you have one) 3. Add your new page to your home page (in the new articles section - or whatever) 4. Do this once a week (better to outsource, and if you are REALLY serious, you'll do it once a day) 5. Set up a blog, start blogging (or outsource), and watch your backlinks, traffic and rankings explode. Doing this will give you an edge other your competitors, seriously. As for making more money, you'll need to know how to make your site convert into sales, but this is another story. Enjoy, Franck |

no only just links, not dofollow links. If the link is rel=nofollow there will be no page rank passed. Firefox has a good plugin plugin to highlight nofollow links

Great Tip. Only thing I miss there is the sitemap. What do you mean by sitemap? Do you mean To put a sitemap on the homepage of my website or submit a sitemap? Thanks anyways, its good SEO tip. Oling |

I have only ever promoted one page on my main site and the results have been breathtaking. So again, while I see where you're going, I feel it adds a bit of misinformation. If people have the time then sure point links to all your inner pages but I'm telling you it's not necessary. You won't do any harm of course but every time you build a link to an inner page and if it took time to do that, you could have been adding a front page link.

The search engines specifically look for links that point to interior pages because it tells them that there is content worthy of linking to not only on the home page but within the internal pages as well. - Kristine

I'm a big fan of deep linking. I use social bookmarking for that, as well as mini-blogs. Directories, article marketing, etc I point to my homepage, but if I can, I also try and get deep links with relevant keywords in the anchor text.

Deep linking works well,it also always you to have more than 1 page on the first page of google which has happened to me before. The way I see it your homepage automatically benefits,as it is the site itself and the page is classed as a sperate entity by the search engines. This is why many pages (not home pages) are listed in googles first page,yell.com is a perfect example. |

For the sitemap, make sure you have 2 sitemaps. An XML site map for google that only crawlers will see and one for the website that anyone can view. If you got a good programmer, he can make you a sitemap that updates automatically. |

Who said that you should do this yourself? In fact, the only reason one should do this himself is that he is just starting out and can't affoard to outsource... When you link to inner pages, you'll receive more traffic. Best, Franck Quote:

Yes definitely and that is one of the reasons why comment luv is such a good plugin for blogs. If google thinks your whole website is popular then google is gonna up your ratings. Good Advice. Another great tip is to on all the new pages you have created have anchor text to your homepage. That is a HUGE one. |

Good advice. People often forget that good correct internal linking is often as useful as external linking

Thanks a bunch for the information in this post. Deep linking is something they many people overlook but is super important. If you're looking to build a quality site that you want to stay in it for the long haul you want to have as many deep links as well as home page links as you can. Having a mix of them both makes your site look much more natural than having no links to internal pages and 2000 links to the home page. From a search engine perspective having only links to your home page stands out like a sore thumb and is obviously attributed to someone trying to manually influence their rankings. By mixing in a consistent amount of deep links over time they appear much more natural. I don't know about anyone else but when I build a site I plan on putting time into and having around for awhile I want to have it be a high ranking powerful site but appear natural at the same time. I think of it like future proofing my site for future search engine changes. -Barry Quote:

| Don't get me wrong, I totally agree that getting comments is a good thing. But they can also destroy your keyword density (for good or bad), which can have an adverse affect on your page rank. So, it's a balancing act.
