Which Is Best, A Blog Or Regular Website For Adsense Site?

Hello to all Fellow Warriors,

I am new to internet marketing and I want to start by creating Adsense for content sites.

I am wondering if it's better to start with a Blog and write keyword rich content for it and display my Adsense ads there, or would it be better to create just a website and have my content with Adsense ads shown on it?

Does it really matter if I used a Blog or a regular website? Is one preferred over the other, when it comes to profitting from Adsense?

Does the niche choice have any say in this matter? Do certain niches merit a Blog over a regular website?

I feel a Blog might be a little better by offering the benefit of having visitors posting comments, thereby, always having fresh relevant content.

It's a matter of opinion but I prefer WordPress. Very easy to SEO, easy to install, & a great Adsense plug-in. Just have to modify the header, footer, theme, etc.

A blog would be alot easier to set up...so I might suggest that.
It all depends how much traffic you send there.
If you send 1000 visitors to a website than you'll make more money.
If you send 100 visitors to a blog you'll make less money.
Try setting up a blogger blog if it's your first blog

I suggest you to use blogger.com. It is the the easiest plotform for buidling adense websites on the fly. I alwasy get higher click throguh rate with blogger blogs. I use the default template in this blog.

I prefer Wordpress blogs because they are much easier to setup as compared to websites. For newbies certainly Wordpress, but as you get more experienced and comfortable online you can try out a regular website. It is all preference.

Personally, I prefer wordpress with own hosting. It's easy to create and installa all the plugin. What you need to do is just key in your publisher id.

I don't like to use blogger(xxx.blogspot.com). Though it is also simple to show your adsense ads by adding adsense gadget, you'll have to share the click revenue with blogspot. Unless, you copy the ads code from adsense and paste into the text area of gadget.

Another reason is, I can schedule the post to to posted automatically in the future. The only thing you must remember to do is install MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer plugin. Then, it'll only ping when the post in post on scheduled date, not both the date you write and the day it posted.

If you are thinking create mutiple site by using wordpress, try looking for hosting account that offer you unlimited mysql database. the baby plan from hostgator is good if you really want to focus on adsense as long term income generating machine.

If you use blogger.com, you may consider using your own domain name to forward to your blog there so if one day blogger change names or disppear, you do not risk losing all your traffics from backlinks. But here are two questions:

1) How G treats fowarded domain names and how will this affect SEO?
2) Anyone knows the payments from clicking ads served in blogger.com vs. ads served on your own hosting the same? I heard that ads served at blogger tends to pay less because G hosts blogger which makes sense.

So my opinion is, for serious internet marketers, host your own blog without forwarding. Wordpress is great.

BTW, what AdSense plug-in you use? I tried several but so far I still need to find a better one.

i think websites are good for adsense because even setup is different not as easy as a blog/wordpress etc websites have easier maintenance & i think they ahve a longer life than blogs so as a result the adsense works better.

Also as long as traffic (lots of traffic) is being sent to sites then this again makes websites better... i think.

One more thing regarding advantages using blog is, you have RSS feeds automatically generate for you. Rss reader can easily pull your contents so you can syndicate your contents more easily than regular web sites. Plus, G cares about how many users subscribed to your blog. G bought feedburner so you laways know how many users actullay read your posts in blog.

My opinion is, do both of them. Regular web sites give you full control but takes more time initially, blog provides easy setup and RSS feeds, which is useful in getting your posts to readers.

Revenue = traffic x CTR

Traffic AND CTR depend on fresh relevant content... so, whatever way you can get fresh relevant content, thats the way to go

Regarding comments, sometimes they tend to wander off topic so can actually dilute the relevance...

Would like blog because most of us are lazy, no offense including me. If you have time to create and maintain a web site that is good too. - You will have full control over almost anything but you have to maintain it yourself since you know your web site best.

There is a third choice, use some CMS(Content management system) like Joomla.

I think the theory is that blog visitors are less inclined to click on ads, but you can make a wordpress installation look like a regular site so the visitor would not feel he/she was on a "blog" and maybe click as if on a regular site

However, Word press does have tons of advantages as far as building and maintaining a website is concerned and the search engines, especially Google love them so you will get indexed faster.

I tried word press several years ago but did not fully understood it's awsome versatility so I continued using Dreamweaver, XsitePro, FrontPage and other site building tools. It was a nightmare trying to keep these sites up-to-date. About 2 years ago I gave Wordpress another go and only then did I realize how easy it was to master it, and how much power you can "plugin" into its core

I've also tried dozens of Content Management Systems/automated builders but abandoned them all because I did not have time to learn how to use them or maintain them.

If you are going to use Wordpresss I would advise using your own domain on your own server, then you can use blogs on blogger.com and wordpress.com to get backlinks to your own hosted wordpress site.

Truly, If you want to spend less time maintaining your site and more time earning money from it a Wordpress installation will give you that advantage everytime without doubt

promotion if you go with a blog because of all of the great
plugins available.

Plus you'll also find it much easier to make sitewide changes
when you need to

Ask yourself, do you have a lot of informations to write, if so than your best choice is using a blog.

If you don't have enouth informations, than you need to use a static website.

At first, try to familiarize yourself on this online world. Your concepts and ideas will develop little by little. I started by writing blogs because at first, I was afraid to be tied up at domains and hosting expenses, etc.... but later on, the more you make money, the more you will be courage enough to try new things.

So, as of now, you can try writing blogs for familiarity purposes. The spiders (who will read your content) wants those sites with lots of contents.

Blogging and creating websites are different. But blogging is a great start if you really want to improve yourself on internet marketing. After all, the more you explore, the more you interact with people, the more ideas you will have, and the more money in your pocket. :-)

I used blogger when I just started. However, from what I have read from one of the e-books about SEO, Wordpress is owned by Google (if I remember it right, hah!) that's why, you can try Wordpress for better crawling of your contents to search engines.

But as of now, since, you are just starting, Placing adsense is a good start. But you must remember, if you really want to profit from adsense, you must know what words are highly paying in order to profit more. Say Forex... Forex Words are so high in bidding.... sometimes, the clicks are ranging from $0.50 to $3.00... But still, in order to profit on your blog, you must know how to market your blog as well.... its more on marketing... :-) And blogging is a lot of work more than you can imagine. So, start writing blog with free hosting, with adsense, for familiarity purposes, then move forward.

You did a test of Wordpress V Joomla. I did not mention any CMS in particular. It may well be that the test you did proved Joomla did better.
I'm saying that wordpress blogs (or should i say sites) tends to get indexed faster that static sites.

1. Just use whatever you are comfortable with,
2. Enables you to upload your content in a timely manner,
3. And gives you the layout flexibility you personally need.

For some this may be wordpress, for others Joomla, then some
prefer Drupal, I personally use XsitePro.

It is all a matter of preference. If you are brand new starting with a blog platform like Wordpress can be the easiest thing to learn instead of having to learn standard HTML. If you go with a standard HTML website, than I recommend you get an RSS feed created for your HTML content site, so that it can get the benefits that a blog gets from having RSS. My preference would be Wordpress, but it is up to you.
