What Should A Good SEO Person Do For My Company

I run a cleaning service company and wanted to know what are the best and correct techniques for ranking my website/ pages. How would you go about ranking my site knowing my industry.

i have been dealing with local business seo for quite a long time now and I have found that most of the time it can be done quite easily.

the seo company needs to get results and simply saying they can is not enough.... you need proof that they can walk the walk.

what are they going to be doing?

in essence building links and creating content along with sone on page seo.....

you could do this yourself....

just make sure that the company uses white hat techniques

There are so many things that someone could do to rank better on search engines and get more traffic.
My advise would be to focus on building links for traffic not for SEO. To make people click your links you need quality content and actually give them a reason to do so. You can try video marketing, blog commenting (not spamming) and guest posting, these are the best ways to get traffic and at the same time rank better on search engines...

There are some rules to follow to avoid getting scammed by an SEO company. Here they are:

1. They don't claim they "know everything" and "will rank your website instantly" - this is the typical scam that I still see being used today.

2. They don't blast your site with 1000 backlinks per day. You might think they are doing a lot of work for this but this will only hurt your site.

3. They care about the business and take the time to learn about it and do a thorough keyword analysis.

I've ranked a cleaning site number one in Google, I don't need to say anything, I have proof.

Put the funds in escrow. When they have ranked your site on page 1 or #1 spot release the funds. That's the best way i think.

There is no way he would of done that. He has a waiting list and I actually found him after seeing a post by him on one of my cleaning forums. He says there so much work to be done especially since my previous SEO company messed up all my directory information. He has giving me a tool to monitor the keywords and my places page he is working on to see the progress. Is that sound like a good thing?

You have to be kidding? No SEO Agency in their right mind would do that. Far too many variables.

My advice would be; ensure his Google Places SEO is sound. Ask him to list all of the citations he has created for it, and find out whether or not some of those citations need paid renewal.

As for actual SERP SEO; A good SEO would sit down with you, ask you how far you're willing to travel, make a list of all the locations within the radius you are willing to travel and get some good content / links made for every town, village etc in that area. Ranking for geo-spec long-tails is exceptionally easy and requires surprisingly little work.

Yeah, he said that is a problem because my last SEO guy screwed up my directories which he said is a huge problem. He is not able to login to them and correct them he said, and my old guy is unreachable. But he has taught me how to look at a rank checker tool so I can see the progress he is making with my keywords organically. Does that sound good? He also runs some classifieds to try and get me immediate calls while working to get my keywords up on the first page.
