Default Beginner hit the jackpot?

Since this is my first post, I thought I would introduce myself a bit before I get into my story. I've been reading, reading, and reading some more about internet marketing over the past 6 months or so. I have researched a ton of different IM methods including PPC, article marketing, etc. Just recently, as in a week or so ago, I felt I was ready to begin taking action. So I did, making a review site and just last night, launching a PPC campaign.

Skipping some beats, the review site isn't going well but the campaign I started last night is showing some serious promise.

The PPC campaign I launched last night consists of about 15 keywords (one of which is accounting for over 90% of the traffic, all are semi longtail and have <0.10 bids) and direct links to a TERRIBLE sales page which sells an overpriced product.

Around $5.00 and 72 clicks into the campaign, I made my first sale (first CB sell btw!). This is a $15.00 profit. Now I know I may be jumping the gun here, but thats a pretty decent ROI in my opinion.

Here are some updated figures of my campaign:
Main keyword: 113 clicks today with over 20% CTR!
Other keywords: Avg 15% CTR
Sales: Still only 1

I know I've only had this campaign running a day, and I plan on running it until it goes negative but here is my question.

Should I develop a similar product (wouldn't be that hard), produce a way better landing page, and lower the price? This could be a huge breakthrough for me. Making a hundred dollars a day would mean a ton to my poor college student life lol!

I guess I'm just a super excited n00b. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance!

I don't know about making your own product but I think its generally accepted that a landing page will sell better than just direct linking. Especially to a poorly done merchant page. You sell them to the point they are ready to buy on your landing page and the merchant page isn't quite as important after that.

Just my 2 cents

Mm

So it appears it was just a lucky sale.

I think I'm going to build a landing page and offer a free report in order to get them on a list.

It's the first niche I've found that I can get decent amounts of traffic too so I'd really like to monetize it.

When you start new campaigns, you'll often see early sales that don't continue to perform that well. I believe it's because your ads are new, and folks who've been searching for solutions for a while click & buy when they see an ad that resonates with them. Once you've gone through all those folks, you start to see real sustainable sales volume.
