Higher Adsense CTR trick

Hey guys,

I thought I'd drop by and share one trick that helped me on a particular site and might give you some ideas.

I once had the bad idea of creating a lyrics site and monetize it with Adsense. But the CTR were horrible .. and that's because the ads were triggered by the lyrics .. so .. if the song was about a medieval prince saving a lovely princess it would trigger a "buy medieval sword" kind of ad ..

So .. it got me thinking how to get a higher CTR without breaking the TOS. A lot of you know that posting images near ads is forbidden and leads to an instant ban .. However .. instead of placing an image near adsense .. I just placed two adsense boxes close to each other .. 1 box that accepts only image ads .. 1 box that only accepts text ads.

CTR went from 1% to 5% in one day. Never had an issue with adsense.

I only recommend it for sites with horrible CTR. Image ads tend to get clicked more and carry low payouts. Also .. google seems to serve the best ads if the number of adsense ads per page is minimum .. so this is why I would only recommend this technique for desperate cases.
