Do WP titles still count for SEO when moved offpage with CSS?

I have a custom graphic for my Wordpress header that includes graphic letters for the title and subtitle. I know I can use CSS to move the WP text titles off the page but will this hurt my SEO? Does Google look at that as a sneaky trick? Or does it still count as a title tag even though it doesn't show on the header?

Is there a better way to do this?

I want to have a title with outlined letters for better readability (hence the need to use graphic text on my header instead of the standard WP title text)
