Default Adsense change of direction?

Forgive me if this has been covered already but adsense will soon start showing ads based upon viewers interests and not the theme of th site.

How do you think that the new changes to the way adsense works, will affect content sites, blogs etc ?

My feeling is that content sites will start to need more content and less focused themes. After all, what is the point of chasing those high value clicks if the ads served are based on viewers interest and NOT site content?

Default Re: Adsense change of direction?

Hi dectomax,

AdSense has been doing this for some time now with the introduction of Placement Targeting for demographics. I believe this is the reason they needed to introduce Quality Scores for the Content Network.

The Content Network QS is the governing factor that determines ad positions on your ad units. The way Google has structured the bidding should be good for publishers because you will have more ways that advertisers can identify and compete for well targeted traffic.
