Hey Warriors, I've been researching the medical niche lately, and almost every single condition is occupied by authority sites in google (first page or so anyways). They are all PR 4-5, and have around 10,000 (at least) Links to domain, good alexa ranks, everything. Now, the links to that specific page are almost always below 100, and the content doesn't seem as relevant as I could make it. What matters more? I'm new to SEO ![]() Any information on outranking these authority sites would be greatly appreciated! |

Yes - it is possible to beat them but don't expect it to happen overnight. You need to be consistent and focused but it is indeed possible. Concentrate on getting good quality, relevant links and you will see your site steadily gain traction. Will |

Pick a sub niche, dig the keywords deeply in that niche, put the keywords in the Google search in quotes like "keyword here", and when you found 50,000 resulted pages for any keyword & 1500 search volume PM, then pick it, go register the exact match domain, outsource a 1000 words article, tell him to write informative and SEO optimized article. Then start building backlinks to it. Soon you will be on page 1. Go and repeat the process for more keywords. Cheers & good luck. Jawad |

Yes, it's entirely possible to outrank these authority sites, but you have to ask whether it's really worth the effort. Unless you're super passionate about this market, I would give it a miss. It's actually quite foolish to go after these keywords these days because it's harder now than it ever was to outrank the health authority sites. You're new to SEO? Do yourself a favor, pick something else worth your time and effort. |

Yes, it is possible. As Will said, it's not possible to build Rome in a day. You need to work consistent for that as your domain will be new and will have to start from scratch. Try getting links from relevant, high PR and do follow sites and do strong on page optimization. I am sure you can outrank other sites. |

| Make use of the LinkDiagnosis.com tool to see the statistics of their backlinks in details. Once you have the details, match those by the acquiring the same number of links having the same orientation as their backlinks. You could also work on identifying their strongest links using the tool and matching them.

Do what everybody has already said, and forget the medical niche. I had 15 sites that all dealt with medical careers, they all made money from long tail keywords, 1 even made it to the first page of google, and at position 10, for a keyword that get's 33,000 searches a month I only received 3 visitors from that keyword. Oh and btw the site that made it to first page took a ton of links to do it, around 8,000, I made it to position 10 by using bmr, right before Google destroyed them. You'll end up spending more money than you make, and if you build the wrong type of links all your time and money will go right down the drain. Like someone said if this is your passion than go for it, if it's just about money, move on to something easier. |

Google search volume gives you crap to be honest. Take the numbers from there as an indication. As of recent i don't even use it myself anymore. The only way you want to be on par with these authority sites, is to match the content level of these sites, and then sprinkle our magic "backlinks" towards your site, and then perhaps in a couple months you will start seeing SOME results, it might not even be significant. I'm not saying this to scare you away, but like 1 of the guy above said, if you wanna do this, make freakin sure you know that you'll be in this market for LONG, and that you're passionate about it. Or else, forget about it. The easiest way for a newbie to start, i would say is to just focus on CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT. Seasoned marketers like us sometimes take a longer time to realize this because we're too influenced by the "Backlinks" - it was what has worked back then. |

| Well there's a lot more to a strategy like this and phrase match searches for competition isn't the best way to go. I do believe that small niche sites will be around for a very very long time though - simply because if you really dig, you'll find many keywords that absolutely no one else is going for, so it's easy to be the most relevant page.
