All the keyword tools except for the Google's own keyword tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal) are unreliable. One month they say one thing, next month the other. And I am not talking about a normal fluctuation here, but going from 10 to 100,000 and so on.

Very nice list. I use a few of them but it's always handy to have a great compilation list like that to refer to. Thanks!

Also if you want a great tool for finding keyword domain names then try out the type in traffic finder. This tools uses real time data from the Google keyword tool to help find domain names that match exactly to keyword phrases with monthly search traffic in Google.

Thanks for the list. There are few tools which allow you to get insight into your competitor keywords like spyfu, compete. Those are very handy as well.

Nice keyword research sources. However, for the more serious and aggressive internet marketer, you wouldn't find me recommending any of these to you. Google's keyword research tool is very useful and for free -- it's well worth it's value. If you want some of the best keyword research tools available check out Word Tracker and Keyword Discovery.

| I totally agree, but the one road block that I have found with it is when you are trying to get ahead on a particular keyword that you need current information on. Say for instance a product was just announced that isn't fully available yet, but you want to setup a site to drive traffic to so you can get recognized on the search engines for when it is fully available... The data that is presented to me in Google is from February, and the release happened in March... I'm continuing with the site "kind of" blindly now because I don't have that verification that the keyword is being searched for. Still going for it though because once the news broke out, I noticed the amount of pages carrying this topic grew from 280k to almost 2.5 million... |

Some great keyword tool suggestions. I agree that all keyword tools vary in their accuracy and it's not until you have tried a number and them and done some of your own testing that you get a feel for what tools are better. I would add another one below I have had some success with. MarketSamurai.com Sorry, can't add a link as a newbie poster ![]() It's very flexible and pulls most of it's keyword data from Google. It generates some quite detailed SEO results as well as compared to the usual keyword stats. But like all tools it's not perfect. ![]() Peter |

Keyword tool is good for getting ideas about what is hot recently, but you can never bid on the exact keywords as you will be paying skyhigh cpc because everyone is doing it. After getting the keyword ideas, you should go to forums and do more research and find out what people really want when they type in these keywords. Once you got the long tail key phrase resulting from your own research, I'm sure it's highly targeted and relevant and the cpc only costs a dime! |
