Hey anyone use this tool? What kind of results have you had using this. I want to download it but I don't want to waste my time if it's only going to get me a small trickle of traffic and take a lot of time to implement, ya know?

I have used this tool a few times and I think it's great. Although I think the proxy settings could be greatly improved. My work is protected by a proxy (username and password for external access) and there's no place to enter a username and password in the settings page.

Other than that, great tool.

And for anyone that doesn't want to enter their email...10minutemail.

Its a dofollow backlinking tool, if you can't get traffic with this there is a slight problem I will say though that it does require some work to get results from. I find the best way is to actually read the blog post and leave a meaningful relevant comment, you will get a great sticking rate if you do this. I know this takes some time but it is worth it in the long run (very worth while).

Yeah that is very true about the proxy situation, sorry about that. The thing is that .NET actually has very poor support for proxies and such in its web browser component. I have been looking into other solutions for providing proxy support for it as at the minute it sets the proxy in the register which, in my opinion is a horrible way to handle proxies.

I will look into getting this changed though as I agree it is not ideal only supporting open public proxies.

A work-around for you would be to set a proxy up in your internet connection settings so you have a system wide proxy setup. The tool "should" use this system wide proxy for all of its searching and browsing. Hope that helps a little.

If I may ask, why use a proxy? Google can't see the IP of the person who left the comment as far as I know so why use a proxy?

No its a C# app. To be honest VB is one of the few languages that I have never touched I think the connotations of it being a "basic" language has always stopped me from even bothering, though some people swear by it.

The use of proxies prevents (to some degree) your comments from being sent straight to the spam box by spam plugins such as akismet. Akismet will acknowledge that a certain IP is posting more comments than usual and eventually block it from all blogs that have akismet enabled.

There are other ways around akismet, the easiest of which is to leave relevant comments and rotate the URL and anchor text used which you should be doing anyway.

Hey Jim I have been using this app for 3-4 months solid with great results so I dont know why everyone is being overly criticle about it. Its free and it works, if you dont like proxy solution use proxy firewall with registered private proxies or join there club for $30 per month and problem solved. Now I know why I havent been on this forum in over 6 months lol

O ok I forgot about Akismet and spam filters. Yes that makes a lot of sense to ban IP's that post on a lot of blogs with the same site and anchor text! I'll have to use proxies in the future...

I used Visual Basic when I started to learn programming a few years back. Then the language had its limitations, C# and C++ was far more powerful, but with the release of Visual Studio.net 2005 all of that changed. Basically the .net framework is the same with all the languages, the language that you program in is based on personal taste and past experience alone.

I prefer to use the basic language because it's far more easy to understand and mathemtaically it makes more sense to me. But for more technical programming I use matlab, nothing beats matlab with technical programming and mathematics.

But good work on that program it will definatley help me with my link buildings campagins!

Hehe I hear ya but in all honesty mate its better than a lot of IM / SEO forums out there. Ive been banned from 1 forum in particular because I mentioned my tool in a thread that someone else created about my tool lol.

I was a bit astounded at how some people tended to demand certain features ( in earlier versions) and how some people thought I was a bad guy for trying to give away something but hey I guess some people are just skeptical ::SHRUGS::

I have been received better on this forum than on others and at least people round here are polite and, for the most part, friendly.

Yep, Java sucks big time. .net Is great, Microsoft really knows what they are doing, although many programmers hate Microsoft for some stupid reason.

I realise Java has its uses, mobile sector uses java extensively but when I was using it the virtual machine it ran in wasn't overly reliable and it ran so different on different machines ( so much for platform independance eh ).

At this point in time I think MS have the desktop development platform on lock-down, especially with the releases of Visual X Express. I still find it weird that I don't need to pay for new IDEs.

I will point out though that I much prefer PHP for web apps, not great for debugging but things go so much quicker and the errors tend to be simpler as it isnt so strongly typed. Either way Im getting a bit off topic here.

Did I tell you guys I have given out more than 5k copies of this tool now? Im chuffed so many people like it.

I was just having a play around with this to see how it works and it doesn't seem to be working.

I read through the guide and followed the instructions and I just tried some very generic terms to see what it would do such as "golf" and "weight loss" and both said, "0 results found this run".

Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

To be honest no. Maybe it is a connection issue such as proxy problems or no connection present. If you use a proxy to get an outside connection make sure the settings in I.E are setup for this proxy and that the proxy is funcioning correctly.

Failing that do you have .NET 3.5 installed? If not you will need this.

To be honest I don't worry too much about the PR at all. Some sites with K's of backlinks will have a PR currently at 0 while other high PR sites will have little to no traffic.

Just remember all links are good links and I advise that the time spent worrying over PR is probably best spent getting links

Also if I had one major tip for commenting it would be to read (or skim) the post and leave a comment that is relevant and one that contributes to the discussion. Time spent leaving short "Thanks webmaster" type comments is a total waste as vast majority will not get past moderator.

I am not suggesting that anyone is even slightly stupid and I hope that nothing I write will make you feel that way. I don't know what the issue is with what is written to be honest, in fact i thought I went into too much detail.

The profile is the group of inputs, each input is the box where you put in your info(email, name, URL, comment are all inputs, the profile is the group). I don't think it matters if you get the concept of what is an input or what a profile is just that you understand what each part of the app does.

To be honest if you have ever posted a comment on any blog post you should know what the name input is for or the email input.

I have stated in numerous conversations about this tool that I will never put in a filter to get rid of blogs by their PR as I think that is a really bad thing to do considering all the work is already done to get the blog and check its PR. Links from PR0 pages are still good and chances are the blog they are on will be higher than PR0 and the page could easily be upped to a PR3 tomorrow so limiting by PR is a crazy idea. If you are really concerned with only posting comments to high PR blogs then get ya list, PR check and then sort by PR and only comment on the high ones.

The time delay for PR checking is a fine idea but I prefer to just get the job done which only becomes a problem after thousands (plural) of checks. I think if you use a proxy you could scan some of the list and change IP if it is an issue. I know the PR scan is not perfect but I dont tend to use it, i prefer to just get commenting and watch the links come in, maybe this is just how I do commenting.

I am thinking that this will be the last major revision of the tool until I get some time after I have finished a couple of my paid tools that I hope to release in a couple of months or so.

There is no real reason for only a few sites popping up other than maybe tehre just arent that many blogs relating to your spanish keyword. Were you using the spanish regional settings? That might have a bearing on what results it returns though I wouldn't know as I dont speak any spanish.

You could also try making sure you have the latest .NET framework 3.5, I imagine you have already but it doesnt hurt to check.

Also, you could add Spanish for google.com, as opposed of using .es, or you could add more regions like .cl, .com.ar, etc.

All the searches are done through Yahoo and while it is by no means the be all and end all of search it is great for pulling lots of results really quickly, its why the search is so quick. Yahoo also allows for a region to be set so all the results are skewed as if you were using the spanish version of Yahoo.

If you want to PM me the specific search terms you were using I might be able to suggest a better way to use the software. I generally target the more obscure niches and as such it can be difficult to find relevant sites to link from so I know how you feel.

Also, Spanish isn't equal as spain. The market I target is mostly from south america.

You tried the Mexico region settings? If you PM me the search terms you are using I will have a look and see what I can do or suggest.

hmmm. How can you extract if its not downloading? Im assuming it has downloaded but you are not able to extract because you are using 7zip, the file is compressed under winrar which is largley considered by far the best compressor and it will extract anything you want. You can get it free at www.rarlabs.com I suggest you do.

I don't get how you can have the file and it be coming up as an html file, can you clarify as it sounds like all is fine but not fine at the same time. Also I totally agree that Fast Blog Finder is crap.

Sorry I haven't replied in the past couple of days, Im not trying to ignore you or try to brush you off.

I see what you are saying now when I use the exact same query keyphrase in yahoo and Google to compare my tool (Yahoo based) again google, google has 144 results where yahoo only 3. I am looking into this to see if more results could be pulled from Yahoo.

This is not the case with a lot of keywords / phrases I have used in the past as I generally find Yahoo very comparable to google in terms of its results and even a lot more appropriate in lots of cases. Either way I think my main option is to run queries through google and yahoo in future, maybe give the user an option of quick mode (Yahoo) or slow mode (google).

Will keep you posted on what I find.

I hate to accuse somebody of ****** but I sent out 1, that is a single, email many many months back when ver3 was released to notify users that I had released a new version so only about 1/5th of my current DB got that email.

Obviously it is possible somebody is sending you emails with a spoofed from header but I gaurantee you it is not from me or anybody that has access to the server ( which is me and me alone, hence why the server was down a whole week while I was on holiday).

No its not a spamming tool, not automated its just more of a helper than a poster. It is still best to read the blog post and leave a relevant comment rather than leave random comments as they won't get past moderation and will end up with your IP and/or domain banned from akismet.

Im sure some will use it for spamming purposes but they will not be getting full effect from it.

It works in Linux and Mac OS using the appropriate windows emulating software. I dont use them myself so dont know any specifics but everybody I have spoken to that uses Linux or Mac OS have had success with it.

Yeah, I know some people have expressed concerns with having to download the .NET framework but the way I figure it most people will have to install it at some point anyway so why delay the innevitable. .NET is easily downloadable directly from MS, just google ".NET 3.5 download" if you dont know how to find it.

The only errors Ive heard of from using my app is from people without .NET 3.5

Thank you for creating this tool and for sharing it with everyone here. I had no trouble installing it, and I found the PDF documentation easy to understand.

In several instances of the tool inserting my profile and comment, I was required to click a button on the blog's site to submit my comment. I guess I'm paying more attention initially to make sure my comments actually get posted.

I'm going to monitor my web stats and check backlinks during the next several weeks. I'll report my findings if you'd like.
