nofollow backlinks have less impact, even if it's dofollow it'll take some time for your rank to increase.

Nofollow backlinks have less impact, but even nofollow links from high authority websites can make a difference.

A no follow does not flow link juice through to your website which will not increase your PR BUT does provide authority and a good link profile for your websites in SERPs and will look more natural to the search engine. Before linking from this.edu website, please make sure it is relevant to your website. Google are cracking the whip on spam links and if it has absolutely no relevancy then I wouldn't recommend it.

I agree with shout out digital. PR is effected only through dofollow links but nofollow links taken from high authority website of your niche make it look more natural to search engines., so if the edu sites are of your niche , then it'll indirectly help you.

Page rank juice will be counted only on dofollow backlinks. If you are getting backlinks from nofollow high page rank website then it will never help you, so try to get backlinks from dofollow websites. Also i would like to suggest you that purchasing paid link is against Google guideline. If Google noticed your backlinks then it will harm your search engine ranking. i would like to suggest you that ignore such kind of link juice pass process. For long term sustainibility follow natural link building service.

No, it won't increase your PR. To boost your PR, you will have to build high quality Do-Follow back-links. But, if your no-follow backlink is coming from a trusted and relevant source then surely it will add to your domain authority (but unfortunately it will not help boost your PR)...
My advice is - keep a good balance between no-follow and do-follow (this will keep your backlink profile look more organic and natural to the search engines)

No it will not. But is it worth linking to them for natural link building. A good mixed of nofollow and dofollow edu links is good.

Just make sure these pages are relevant to your site, and keep your link building natural.
