before you look at me like i am an idiot, i see more threads with people concerned about what their pagerank is rather than how well their site ranks for relevant content/keywords. yes, pagerank does play a role in the ranking of a website, but i feel that some people are so wrapped up in what their PR is, they have lost focus on what they really need to do to rank higher. what good is a high PR site if it is not ranking for competitive keywords in its niche? unless you are selling links or advertising space to other people obsessed with a site's pagerank, pagerank should not be something you are obsessed over on your website. pagerank is just one of many factors in determining a the strength and ranking of a site..... so why are some people so obsessed with their pagerank? |

Also to add to that, the page rank figures we see are not the actual current google figures anyway. I believe that we see page rank figures a couple of months behind what they actually are in reality. Quote:

That question beats the hell out of me. I've seen sites with PR0 and PR1 outrank other sites with higher PR for a keyword phrase that is adequate (over 1,000 searches a month). PR aint nothin' but a number, lol. Seriously though, there's more to SEO than PR. People shouldn't worry too much if their PR isn't increasing or is very low. That number will come eventually. My blog was a PR0 for a long while and still ranked for things it probably shouldn't. In just a few months it jumped to a PR3. It just takes time. |

| IMHO SERPs are more important. Why? Because SERPs aren't a number that represent how you should rank, they are a numeric representation of how you do rank. Which is more important to you the results or the estimation of results. To me it is the actual results. I do think that PR gets so much value for other reasons though. For Example... PR is more than just about search engine positioning. If you sell advertising space PR means a great deal to you as it is a huge influential factor in price and how easily your ad space will sell. |

I agree. PR isn't the ultimate factor one must achieve rather a good overall SEO is required to achieve the goal, which is to get more traffic !!
