Traffic/SEO Benefits of Blog Comments

I use quite an all encompassing stratgey when promoting sites, but one area I've never really bothered with is blog commenting. I'm interested in gaining a thorough understanding of how best to go about this.

It of course makes sense to comment on blogs which are in the same or a similiar niche to your site, but do you tend to avoid sites with "nofollow", or assume that that's unimportant as due to the relevancy of your comment drawing people in?

On "follow" links, do you or can you ever use anchor text, or is the presence of the link alone enough to provide some search engine benefits?

Almost all commentings on the blogs are moderated by owner. If we try to put the url with out a proper reason, owner can consider it as a spam comment. So it is better to use website field to give our URL.

And also a worthy URL in your comment will certainly provide you a back-link.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with earning a link from a blog post. However, you should be commenting in order to contribute the conversation. Also, don’t try to stuff keyword rich anchor text in the name field or in comments as it looks spammy.

Blog comments are an important part of an SEO campaign but on their own they do not make that much of a difference to the rankings. Comments on important in improving the relevancy of your site so you should comment on blogs that are related to your site.

Followed links, especially those that you can get that have your anchor text in them, are better but anything that's niche related can help.

As for the anchor text, this will depend on the policy of the blog owner. Some want only names while others, like myself, allow most anchors that aren't porn/gambling/pharma/warez/hacking related.

Tripti LMP - Yes, that's the technique I think I'll go with. If I can add value to the conversation my comments are more likely to get approved.

Scene4u - I guess they can be used to compliment a promotional strategy, to solidify a position rather than increase it. I'll compile a list of sites in the same niche and see where that takes me.

bgmacaw - Thanks for commenting. I'll check out the comment strutcure of the sites I shortlist, to see if they allow anchor test. I'll only make occasional posts and I don't want to coem across as spammy or commenting for the wrong reasons.

What if you could go to a site that has a PR 4 thru 8 - ohhh say like 200 of them ... and create YOUR OWN BLOG, and post your own articles and insert YOUR RELEVANT content text to surround your links.

What if YOU were the moderator?

What if these had 10 slots for a BLOGROLL to place a few of your links?

What if these blogs were put on some of the better web properties going?

What if there was one of those cute little RSS buttons on most all of these secret personal blog sites, buried deep inside the belly of a high PR site - yet setup to be SEO optimized for the sites owners - to get juice off your content?

That translates into be spidered for you ...

See the site owners all want to generate USER content and bring your eyeballs and your friends eyeballs back to their ADs and content.
