Just recently saw that Google did a PR update, which is good. However, yesterday (Sunday)and today, I've seen a drastic drop in traffic. My site generates all organic traffic and it literally went from around 2k pageviews a day to 200. My question is, Is this possibly due to Google updating the PR (mine went from 0-3) or could it be due to the fact that the site hasn't had any new post on it in a couple weeks? Maybe I've been re-sandboxed because of the lack of updating? Thanks in advance, Best, |

The toolbar value updates roughly every 3 months. Alone, the toolbar PR value has very little to do with your rankings, its just a rough guide to how many websites are pointing at your site. To answer the question of the dropped traffic you need to go deeper into your logs. Where exactly was the treaffic coming from? Referring website? Search engines? If so what keywords where they using. Find out this info and see where the drop has occured and you will be able to get a better idea of what is going on. It could be that you have lost your rankings on a popular keyword. If it's a new site google has a tendency to rank you high at first then throw you down the listsing to a much lower place until your site gets a bit older. |

| PR has little to do with your SERPs so it is better to see your logs. Also, your server might be down that caused the drop or the similar can be said about G data-center serving your index pages but it is highly unlikely.

It was Easter Sunday and Monday. Not many people are online. Pearson |

Wow, Thanks for the quick responses everyone. I forgot that this was Easter weekend (and the site in question is a cooking niche site) I'm going to dig deep into the keyword logs and see what's happened because all the traffic is 100% organic search. |
