SEO Mind Boggler?

I am going after atlanta video production on google and have climbed to the bottom of page one.

There is another company "The DVI Group"

They come up number three but I cannot figure out how. They have good onsite content but almost no backlinks.

Any advice here would be great on why and also on helping me climb further to the top.

It may be that they are re-directing back link power from a old domain to the new one. I have often wondered how effective this would be as a strategy

I agree with Netcel, although I think the key is what you said in your post - "They have good onsite content" and I would assume they've been around alonger than your site? Give it time and a few good backlinks and you'll get up there

My take is that they're tightly optimized around the specific term "Atlanta Georgia video production" while you're all over the place with "Atlanta Video Production | Atlanta Video Production Company | Atlanta Web Design | Atlanta Marketing Company | Atlanta Graphic Design Company | Atlanta Georgia | Atlanta Video Production"

They're tightly focused around one specific search cluster involving video production and Atlanta, by accident or design, while you're trying to go after several terms, some of them mostly unrelated.

My suggestion would be if you want to rank for that specific term, then focus on that term. Go and get quality links anchored on "Atlanta Georgia video production". Get rid of the 'stuffing' in your title tag and make it more targeted and slightly increase the keyword density for your target keyword in your text.

I have a website that ranks on a keyword with 10 backlinks. All other competition has thousands of backlinks. I really don't know why this happens, I think google must give preference to where the incoming links are from and how natural they look.
