In my webmaster tool account they want me to add a line of html code to my home page, where is your home page on a WP Blog? I logged into my cpanel and went to file manager and then I get lost. They say they want it in the between the head and title part of the source code. Am I even going in the right direction? Any help would sure be appreciated I feel like a dope at this moment. |

The easiest way of doing it is to create a brand new page and name it whatever your verification string is, then upload it to your root directory.

When you log in into your wordpress panel and under apperance find edit tab, on right side there will be all your web templates php files listed. Find index.php; this is your home page template and klik on it. You will see the code. Insert your tracking code there..... |

why don't use the "upload file" verification method? it's more simple. If you want to edit your wordpress, Go to wp-content/themes/yourthemename/header.php It's 99% there... |

Verification through a file is an easier option. Just open notepad and save the file as mentioned on your webmaster's account (it will be like googlexxxx.html) and put this file on the root of your site and then click the 'verify' button in your webmaster's account.

You can choose to create a new page with a domain name of webmaster tools choosing which might be easier but your home page is the main page on the site.

uploading your files will do rather than feeding up with a webmaster tool
