Such lists don't exist because the moment they do, those websites get spammed and then the .edu website simply disables posting on them and moderate everything. So a public list is useless, however, it is easy to find .edu websites that you can backlink from.

It is believed that .edu and .gov websites are trusted websites. Since they are restricted as to who can get a .edu website. So, it is assumed that Google awards better ranking for backlinks that are placed on .edu websites. It is not confirmed by Google or other SE's but that is the wide belief.

Google claims they evaluate .edu and .gov sites exactly the same as any other TLD. It's just that those TLDs frequently attract numerous trusted links because they are usually moderated and promoted well. Any other TLD can be just as valuable, it's just a common myth that they carry special weight with SEs. | |

It's imposable to list them.. Listing them ususally ends in the ban hammer being thrown.. Furthermore the blog owners get smart to the fact they are on a list.. And tighten up. Ahem open google... keyword+inurl:blog site:.edu Might i add that finding a blog that you can truly leave a legitimate comment on will help you in more then just a jucey link back. In short... Try that out... Leave some juicy comments and do more then "pass through" then watch the magic happen Sorry I just came out of lurking myself.. Can't hotlink :\ |

I have found that relevant sites with high pagerank have boosted my pages more than getting links from .gov or .edu... just my 2 cents
