Default Genuine Question: Is buying packs of links such a good idea?

Hi

I have seen the offer from pj413 and read about Angela Edwards. It sounds great. My question though is this: what's to stop someone from Goolge also buying a pack and then visiting the sites and basically discounting links from those sites? And then following the links back to our sites and penalising us also?

Please understand this is a genuine question and I am not knocking these offers. I'd like to jump in to be honest, but I just have this nagging thought ...

As a subscriber to one of these link packages, I can tell you that one of the biggest problems I've run into is that large websites sometimes change the link to nofollow after hundreds or thousands of internet marketers set up their links. Any webmaster worth his salt would be able to spot this unusual activity shortly after the links package is released and close the loophole mighty fast.

Tony,
Some breaking news story or hot topics can result in 1000's of links to a website listed on google. How can google check every link on every site? And anyway it's perfectly exceptable to post a link after a comment on a blog.
As stated the biggest thing that can happen is site owners changing to nofollow after a high number of posts with anchor text links.

thanks Steve and Richard. So possible problem one is flooding the site and the webmaster clamping down on the activity. How about my Google question. I don't think Google would be bothered unless perhaps it was an expensive keyword. Any thoughts?

Agreed that owners changing the links to nofollow is the biggest worry.

A lot of these sites are actually built for you to place content and your own links on, so I think if you predominantly work on those sites, your backlinks should remain for a long time.

If you use a bit of common sense, you can usually work out which sites your links might be less likely to remain on - just keep in mind the theme and purpose of the site you're linking on.

Working with local businesses....

There isn't any link building strategy except pure natural growth in the number of links that Google might not "discover" and do something to block. Yet since there isn't an internet marketer alive who wants to settle for slow natural growth, chances have to be taken. There is also always a chance that a site owner will make the links no follow at any point.

Anyway, the price of these link packs is so cheap the risk is small and it becomes just a numbers game. I know from experience that Angela's links help a lot. I have tested them on sites where I used no other method of building links. So what if some of them end up getting no followed later. I won't look a gift horse in the mouth in this instance. If they stop working, I'll stop using them.

Thanks!

Also some sites when they get hit with a bunch on new subscribers look into it. I got turned down by Netscape. They sent me a nice email saying that if I was signing up to place links I would be banned. But if I really wanted help I could appeal to their webmaster
