Most Technologically Challenging Parts of SEO?

What do you find are the most technologically challenging parts of SEO?

Recently I had to learn all about canonical and the use of CNAMES as well as actually creating an .htaccess file (which wasn't that bad, but still pretty technical for me at least).

I have the tech part covered pretty good. My team can do just about anything I ask. I would say the most difficult part is maintaining high quality over time.
