Hiya fellow warriors, So I have this blog that launched back in December, I slowly posted, maybe 1 post per week, then in the month of March I posted 10 posts throughout the month, and my traffic blew up! I was getting ~100 unique visitors per day for about 1 month, all from google! And now my blog is ranking very poorly like, page 5 to page 20 when it used to be page 1. My question is, if my blog ranked for certain keywords before (and now ranks extremely poorly, or don't rank at all), can I use SEO to permanently rank 1st page for them (I.E. Backlinks, social bookmarking, article marketing)? If so then I'll get back to posting! Note: I didn't post any new posts in the entire month of April, can that be it? If I just continue posting, will my previous posts somehow show up higher in google again? Or have I been google slapped! Another Note: Google has 54 pages on my blog indexed, so it's not sandboxed right? (Checked by searching "site:mydomain.com" without the quotes and out popped up 54 pages) Thanks guys! |

Hey, what is your permalink setting? it should be /%category%/%postname%/ and if you wana get more google love, you need to start on your SEO factors, factors such as off-page and on-page optimization. Building backlinks according to your keywords is important as well |

Emoney: If you can get search results from googling "site:mydomain.com" then you're definitely not sandboxed. Google likes fresh content so not posting for a month probably hurt your rankings. Definitely need to ramp up your off-site SEO, dude. |

Hmmm you got a lot of traffic when you posted 10 times a month, and little-to-no traffic when you didn't post at all. Try posting 10 times again in May, perhaps? From what you've said, it sounds likely you'll see traffic again. But there's no way to know unless you try! Go for it! |

You got the freshness boost. Google usually gives preferential treatment to new pages and then slowly let them slide the ranks until your website gets more links and becomes more trustworthy in Google's eyes. Just keep pumping out great content and getting links. Tyrus |

You should continue posting for SEO purposes to help your blog get to the top. Also you should keep that 10 content post a month or better do more content. Google credits the job you are doing.

Hi Emoney, You have experienced the temporary boost known as QDF (Query Deserves Freshness). To ensure searchers are able to find recent and timely information, Google will give a short term boost to new pages. After this short temporary boost wears off, your pages will sink to their true rankings. If you want those pages to rank higher you must go to work promoting traffic to them. Build quality backlinks that send relevant traffic, not only will this help your SERP rankings you will get even more traffic from those backlinks. |
