Not sure how close in the future this actually is. But nothing will be truly close to understanding humans. At least nothing that we know about haha

Wolfram Alpha, if it really does do what it says, will put an end to review sites. Imagine trying to have a site with the name - Holy Grail of PPC a scam? - indexed, that interrogation mark will probably mean that instead of being indexed, the name will get answered!

You might not like what I say - but I believe it. Build it, make money, then build some more Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies! | |

I think this has been announced several times previously and has been knocked about as not the answer Dr. Wolfram claims it to be. The arguments I read seemed to indicate that he was a bit more of a press hound than a developer. It'll be interesting to see. Kirk |

Someone else just posted this same article. This is what I said in that thread: Remember the big hoopla and the hush-hush that surrounded the invention of the Segway? The language that was flying around about that before it came out sounds for all the world like the language in this article. The Segway was supposed to "Revolutionize our cities" and all that. Nowadays...you don't see very many people on those things, that's for sure. Anyway, people are creatures of habit and don't really like change. If Google works quite well for them, I suspect it will be a little difficult for another Search Engine to take over the major portion of the market share. But I guess we'll see. |

There was another site that tried to do that in the last year or so. Cuel? Cule? I can't remember the name exactly... but haven't heard much about them since. Another one bites the dust, I guess. The reason is this... Google has the luxury that other companies didn't. They can see how certain big name brands in the tech world were de-throned. They learned to protect their investment. If any company is going to be the Google killer it is going to a long, nasty fight to the end. And they are going to have to be more than a startup. They will need to have a lot of multi-billionaire venture capitalists backing them to succeed. |

Did you know that when google was uprising, they actually did not release their stocks to brokers for sale? Shows you how smart they are. Google is a tough cookie to beat. |

Anyone can be beat and no one is invincible. I am not saying that this is the company, but even Google can be toppled by a combination of forces, some of which will not be of their making. Having said that, I do realize that a search technology alone cannot topple a giant. But you do not have to be big to be useful to people. That is how we can all compete in this environment against big corporate and win. Charles |

I think its all about branding.Once you've establised a good brand. It's hard to change people's attitude. It's like choosing to eat between Mcdonald's vs an "I've never heard of the name before" cafe which sells the same thing.Which one would you go for?
