I have 2 scenarios:
1. Take a keyword phrase eg ticket booking. I build an ad for it and it gets a quality score of 9/10. No problem. Then I build another ad for ticket bookings (plural) using the same ad structure/words/general theme except it's now plural...and it gets a 1/10??? 2. I have an ad with a QS of 9/10, bids are all top, can't see anything wrong anywhere...and Google tells me ads aren't running?? I have other ads with similar structures/keywords and they're running OK. Any ideas? The Ads are taking my visitors to one pagers from where they then click through to the product site. Could Google be penalising me for it only being a one page site? |

I don't think Google will penalise your website fr having just one page. In fact it is more common than one might think. If you cannot find answers try contacting Google either by email or from your Webmaster tools account.

Google will not penalise for one page site. Are you sure you have enough bid?

Yep, the bids are fine. It doesn't make any difference even if I go way over the highest.
I've posted here because I'm expecting to get zero help from Google support. There appears to be no logic to what I'm seeing...and realistically I'm expecting support to be just as clueless as me...most likely they will keep sending me round the same loop...QS..check your ads... check your bids etc etc etc However will try it as a last resort, let's hope it's a pleasant surprise. |

Scenario 1
It may simply be that it doesn't see the plural form on your landing page. One must also keep in mind that QS is partly dependant on your competitors, especially when you create a keyword. Your QS may be different in a couple of days. Scenario 2 Are you saying the ad is disapproved? There's always a reason they disapprove ads, although it may not always be clear to you. Usually, you create an ad that goes against their TOS. For keywords not running, the new term they use now is something like "this keyword appears below the first page" and shows a minimum bid. I've seen this for keywords showing in the top positions. I usually ignore it and ads show for those keywords anyway. Also, Google does NOT penalise one-page sites. I have data to back this up. |
