Default did I hit a jackpot? keyword, SEO expert pls suggest..

I was just playing with google adwords keyword tool and found a keyword

which had

LocalSearchVolume:April --> 246000

GlobalMonthlySearchVolume -> 27100

And yeah.. the graph shows "highest advertisers"

Google exact search with "quotes" shows "802,000" results
and 604,000,000 results without quote

I also found that .net domain for the same exact keyword is available which was previously registered..

Was just wondering, if I am right that I found a good keyword to monetize or it was just me that got over excited.

How good and reliable these figures are?

Make sure you check the "phrase" and "exact" search numbers on that. If you leave it on "Broad" you'll get crazy numbers for keywords which actually get no searches but say they get tons!

Also make sure you check the competition by putting "quotes" around it when you type it into google.

I thought I found gold onetime with a keyword that supposedly got 5000 searches a day, but it really got 0. The broad setting lied to me

How do you select "exact" phrase in https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal ??

I guess what google adwords keyword tool shows is the exact match only?

Don't use that tool anymore: the data is more and more poisoned.

But feel free to give it a go, check competition with quotes and analyze in depth top 20 rankings.

Very true this type of thing happens all the time. Read this blog post I made about keyword research and how inaccurate the keyword tools really is.

I had the same problem with the broad match setting. Thought I'd found a golden niche, but in reality there was almost no searches for the keyword phrase. Luckily I'd only set up my niche blog on Blogger so there was no investment other than my time.

Unless you change the settings it will only show you the "broad" matches

Thats cool.. i knew there is something wrong.. either I am very lucky or other people are stupid not finding keyword.

Wordtracker free tool does not even show up this keyword.. thats again very strange.

is there any authentic way to check the real keyword value, searches etc?

I think the only way to really tell is to setup an adwords campaign for the keyword. Place the bid so that you are #8 on the page and make your ad unappealing so no one clicks on it. You only need to let it run for a day or less. You will be able to tell the real traffic from the impressions and hopefully no one will click the ad and you won't be out any money!

What you need to remember also is the fact that a percentage of searches made are webmasters, seo's, and I'm's checking there rankings.

Take all keyword stats with a pinch of salt and use them as a good only.
