Hi, This is kind of a follow up to a previous question. My issue now is that my G Webmaster's tools is showing pages that aren't there, are. They were posts on my blog that have been deleted. I've added redirects back to the main page for every "page" Google finds a 404 of. My question is - Why is G finding these pages that aren't there and is there a way I can handle the problem proactively instead of waiting for Google to tell me there is a problem and then fixing it? It's costing me my rankings and I'd like to get back to where I was ASAP. Thanks for the help, James |

Yes - you have to take the hit until G gets around to clearing them from their cache.
