Default Digg...

Beginner question here...how do I use Digg to:

1. Get new content on my site indexed quickly
2. Get new articles of mine which ive just posted to article directories to be indexed quickly.

using DIGG...(or anything else that works a treat)

Social bookmarking is a great tool for getting pages indexed quickly.

Not necessarily Digg though...

Go to OnlyWire.com and create an account there...much easier.

Bookmarking Demon is also another great program for social bookmarking.

Yeah Digg is a tough nut to crack if you're basically using it as a bookmarking service.

It's more of a social news site, so the content being dugg has to be "newsworthy" to Digg's audience.

Plus, if you keep Digging your own stuff, you'll soon get taken care of.

I agree with Nemo - if you know people with a great standing in Digg, that will help massively if they can digg it for you, but again - they cant keep digging your stuff. It's too obvious.

Errm, off top of my head I can't think of other sites that havent really been mentioned, but from what I understand of your whole plan, I would avoid social news sites like Digg.

I have only been using Digg for about 3 weeks.
Each time I digg one more of my sites, the digg
shows up asap--I mean we are talking a matter of
hours. I have no idea what this does for any page
rank or whatever, but it sure can't hurt. I am
completely sold on digg and digg it every chance I
get.

I was going to say the same, don't expect much traffic from Digg, unless you have a buzz worthy story, and it does not lead to a page with advertising.

Im not sure of the concept of dig. Do you post your articles LINK onto digg and google crawls it often and hence indexes your content quickly? please fill me in here if possible

It should be pretty much instantly, last I submitted. I think it also shows on the upcoming list right away as well. Unless things have changed.

You'll need to add your url and then the title for the post/story, which should be optimized with your keywords. Also you can use the tags to tag it with your keywords.

If I have 40 new articles on my website that I would like indexed...would I do a 'submit new' for EACH article?

Also, is the purpose of posting your URL in DIGG purely to get that URL indexed? or is it to craete BACK LINKS to where the URL is pointing?

I have heard the main thing here is to get your content indexed quickly as google crawls DIGG very often (or do I misunderstand)

Hi Dale,

To be honest - the purpose of Digg is to share newsworthy (to Digg's target audience) items - that is how things tend to do well on there.

I personally wouldn't advise submitting your 40 articles - especially under one account. Yeah, it will kinda work for indexing, backlinks etc, but your account on Digg won't last long really as you're just promoting your own stuff.

Digg is very powerful and since it has been discovered, they are very tough on people trying to game it.

I would say arguably Digg takes the most work to be successful on, as there are so many power users you have to try and befriend to help vote for your stuff etc.

I would say you don't need Digg for your strategy in most niches.

What if i wanted to use DIGG purely for getting the odd article indexed? (say once a week) its for myself its not like i have plenty clients i am doing this for so im not going to be spamming DIGG with my links in the hundreds. considering my intended use would it serve me well for indexing purposes? And i do have good articles to contribute to DIGG.

That kinda spreading out should be ok - as long as you mix up and Digg other things. Find things you are genuinely interested in (outside of work etc) and Digg them too.

Your profile will look very natural then. And hey, I have plenty of things you can Digg
