Newb-- List building 101

Hi,

I am new obviously and have lots to learn. Also have info overload here. Can anyone share tips or suggestions re: list building?

I have aweber and have learned how to set it up, etc. I also have a salesletter site that has zero sales--yay! It took me a year to create the product-- double yay!

I know a bit about seo, articles, not so good at smo.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

You just need to get traffic to the site that collects emails. You can do this with :
Proper SEO
Videos
Pay Per Click
Legitimate Forum Posting
Twitter
Social Media (FaceBook, MySpace, etc)

You need to stop and ask yourself why you have made no sales? Then when you have some idea you need to revisit who your customer really is and why they would want to opt in to your offer?

Whats in it for them? When you figure out what your customer wants and how you can solve that want (or need) you'll be on your way to mapping out a plan to make that happen.

Developing a list is not very meaningful if you don't have a plan for delivering real value to the people on your list.

You need to get your site up to build your list - ie do seo

1) Blog comments > Very highly recommended... One has to realise first that he.she has to post comments only in Do-Follow blogs and not No-follow
Getting links in No-follow will help you get traffic but will not help you get any link

2) Forum Posting > Please make sure you dont spam any forum, you will get quality links from quality forums only if you dont spam and actually contribute...
Go to google and search for your niche + forums and try and find the best forums... make useful threads and place your links in your signature..

3) Social Bookmarking> The lates and the best way to get high PR links.. just search the net for social sites and you will find tons of list.. now you will want to post to all of them ... OR what i use is onlywire that will reduce your work and help you automate the process...

4)EDU links > Very effective and very difficult to get, so try and get these from your friends or if you know someone in your family

5) Flickr and Youtube > ie Images and Videos , these can get you some serious traffic and can get you some quality backlinks...

Also i forgot to mention make sure you always use your anchor text as your keyword and post your website link in the URL section...


Be patient and you will see results for sure....
Give out some free ebooks - this way you can build your list as well.. make sure you give the ebook in your related niche and prodcut and not just anything - you want target audience and not everyone...

Create a short free report that is related to the product you are selling and offer weekly newsletters on the subject as well. To get traffic there is some good advice in this thread.
