Could Backlinking Possibly Be The Only Legal Drug Known To Man?

Think about this warriors...

Once you start... you can't stop
Once you see the good results... you want to do even more.
When the results start tailing off... you have no choice but to double your efforts.
When you do too much, and are put in an institution (Google sandbox)... you are told the only way to get out is to do even more!

One question... or rather two...
Where and When does it stop?

You can't outsource crack (not sure how that would work), but you sure can outsource your link building!

There are other options are also available, but this one seems most promising as of now..untill someone invent or figure out something more interesting way to do things better.

Good point!

I would compare outsourcing to changing supplier. With outsourcing, someone else provides the linking & with changing supplier someone else provides the drugs.

In the first case, the website is the ultimate recipient of the links & in the second case the body is the ultimate recipient of the drugs.

I think this theory has legs

Checking rankings is also addictive. When you see a boost in the serps it makes you want to go get more links and if you see a drop it puts you on a downer. It's a viscious circles. :-)
