Default Most Deceptive Adsense layout I Have Ever seen

I have never seen an adsense layout like this. The ads look like links to fix the problem the question answers!!!

windowsupdate Can't Install Office Service Pack 3

I actually did not even realize they were ads and clicked on them.

They put their ad very intelligently to get more clicks as when I saw the above link first time then I also puzzled but saw their url in the status bar as those are the google ads.

Oooh, that's almost evil lol.

It's great for earning money, but think of how many people would click on those links and not know what happened.

Nothing on this page looks "deceptive" to me, am I missing something?

I see the question
then below it the ads that are clearly marked google ads
then replies to the question.

Very clever.. What a shame it breaks the Adsense TOS, I will be amazed if Adsense don't ban this account soon.

Hi Steve,

EggHeadCafe is a pretty large and respected tech site.

I wouldn't be surprised if they've struck a deal with Google.

Having said that, I'm with madmagician on this one...

...I can't see why it's deceptive!?

Cheers,
Steve

The links are very hidden, so much that newbie people will click these links without knowing to have clicked an Adsense link.
It's very strange because that type of links are different from the ones we are used to place in websites.

I think if you get over 2 million visitors a month (or something like that) you can have customized adsense like the ones above. I like it, very clever and good on them for making the most of it.

I would imagine they must have got some sort of clearance from Adsense but I bet if your average Adsense publisher tried it they would be pulled up.

The reason they are deceptive is because the ads kind of look like answers to the questions asked and not only that but they look like links to click (which they are of course). This is clearly in violation of the following term of service..

Format ads so that they become indistinguishable from other content on that page.

Anyway, fair play to them if they can get away with it.

You can apply for "special" Adsense if your site generates more than 100k unique/month.

I think it is misleading as it appears that the ads are going to point you in the direction of an answer but they just send you to another site. I actually could care less what they do but just found it interesting how well the ads blended in.

I don't think that I as the advertiser, would be happy having my links on that page.

It may be a bit misleading, but it's brilliant in execution. As mentioned earlier, whoever owns the site is most likely getting a special deal with Google.

Well,

heres another funny one:

And the best of all: it ranks #1 for its keyword: a major keyword everywhere: airplane tickets

How dumb is that from Google?

Astonishing.. How does this site get away without having any content with Adsense? Anyway, your example does demonstrate how keyword domains have some great SEO benefits. I checked on Googles keyword tool and the phrase is a bit uncompetitive but all the same, to get to number 1 is damn good without any real backlinks also.

Steve,

What i find insane is how this site passes adsense control. Maybe he gets less then 20 visitors per day BUT people don't have another choice except to click on ads.

Anyway, I wanted to share another site, but it's down at the moment. Maybe he got banned. He just had a 728link unit + a search box (adsense) + another 728link unit AND at very bottom a tagcloud with 300+ keywords... all this in a squeezed page.

I know Adsense team cannot control every site BUT Google can "see" this kind of sites, can't they? What about sharing information between them?
