CDN and Joomla

Im interested in CDN to speed up my website load time.
In theory speeding up website load time shold help ranking better.
I googled this company Max CDN - trusted by Nissan,StumbleUpon...
I have joomla website so what I have to do is download Max CDN plug in for Joomla.
Beside that I have to edit .htaccess file.
Problem is my file is htaccess.txt and I know I can rename it but if I do that I have to activate URL rewriting in Joomla wich will change website address from:
mywebsite.com/index.php to mywebsite.com and I have already built links to mywebsite.com/index.php.
Im afraid that using CDN service will to more harm then good.
what do You think?
