SEO help on scanned magazine article

I have two articles from national magazines that I scanned and put on our site. I like the magazine look and think it gives us credibility, but I'm thinking that I am missing a nice article with import text / keywords by just having the scan.

Can I type the article and have it on the site so that it's searchable while keeping the scanned version up for our readers to see?

Example: Volleyball Magazine and Volleyball Magazine

and Fairgame Magazine on Article on pre-wrap girls
