Arrow We all start some where - could do with any advise

I had a go at trying to earn money from google adsense last year, and i failed miserably. This was mainly due to that fact i didnt really understand how to get traffic to my site.

I recently strolled across this site, and found some extremely usefull articles along with plenty of experts showing their success. This is the reason i have decided to give it another shot.

If anyone can give me any advise it would really be greatly appreciated. I have started off by creating a blog on blogger i have added adsense, and had a friend click an advert for me to confirm everything is working.

What is the next step, my blog was only created today but i plan to update it regularly. But the reason i gave in last time was because i thought i was putting alot of work in for what seemed to be no audience, and it never seemed to improve.

Your first step with any marketing campaign is to do the MARKETING RESEARCH. Once you have identified a market then you can address that market.

Do you think its best to have more posts on the blog in order to generate more traffic or can i generate decent traffic when just starting a blog out? are there any recommended guides on exactly how to do this for someone that really has no idea.

I'm just starting out, as well.

But in all of the research I've done, there was a guide that said to research niche keywords, find out how much they are searched, then make articles on the ones with the lowest competition.

my main target is to get a regular return with adsense, i do not care if it is $1 per day but i want to be able to do this so i can gain the confidence and belief to move onto bigger things.

Ouch! That's a mistake. I hope Google doesn't catch you on that one. Tell your friend not to click anymore links on your blog!

And Conner this last part is what I believe the number one reason why people fail at Blogging. I know exactly what you went thru. I can tell you from my experience that for a complete year I went and Blogged every week without any Audience . It was a dark and lonely path and I can tell you it is one of the BIGGEST obstacles Bloggers will face.
But Connor , I can honestly say there is light at the end of the tunnel. But only for those that are persistent and stick with it.

It has taken me 10 months of continual work before I started seeing results with Adsense. And exactly one year of hard work before I started seeing decent rankings for competitive keywords for my Blogs.
In the last 2 months my mainship Blog went from 5 to 8 visitors a day and is now over 70 Visitors a day. I honestly thought it would NEVER happpen. But I stuck with it knowing that others went thru the exact same thing.

My point is ( and I know this sounds cliche ) but NEVER, NEVER give up. Realize that this is a marathon not a sprint. Be prepared to put in constant work with your Blog with fresh ,
unique content with Backlinking included. And be prepared for those many , many months where it will seem hopeless with no one listening and no audience . But this is where the losers will be seperated from the Winners. Thats when you put on your bootstraps , bunker down, and realize that your Work will pay off. It has for so many of us who just kept at it. And kept at it...and kept at it... and kept at it...Well you get the point

It will take time and work so prepare yourself for that. You are good to go if you can accept this one fact and totally embrace it

Personally, I don't like AdSense

1. For most people, AdSense is strictly penny-ante. You have to have a lot of traffic to make any serious money with AdSense. For the kind of money and the amount of work you have to do to get that traffic you might as well sell your own products and make a ton more money.

2. AdSense links take people away from your website. Bad for your business.

3. AdSense takes up real estate on your web page.

4. AdSense distracts people from the main message of your website (unless AdSense is the purpose of your website, in which case, see #1 above).

5. AdSense has become like billboards on the freeway - how many billboards do you remember from the last time you drove down the freeway?

6. AdSense sends a message to people that "My stuff isn't good enough, so here's some other stuff I'm gonna try to sell you."

Hiya Mate,

Let me tell you what I did so far...

1. I'm not comfortable with a blog, people dont wnat to know what I really think. I decided to take something that I am very knowledgeable about and see if i could use that. I chose antivirus as my niche and made a website to help people remove viruses for free instead of taking them to the local retail store and paying $150.

2. I wanted to experiment with different IM techniques so my page has adsense in key positions on the homepage. I also signed up as an Amazon affilliate and put ad's from them on the other side of the page. Finally I wanted to try out clickbank so at the end of my homepage there are links to two clickbank products.

3. I dont know much about HTML or SEO so I called the local technical college and got a hold of the instructor who taough SEO. She referred me to a student and I paid her to build my site for me. I supplied the content and told her how I wanted thing arranged and she did it and built the SEO in for me. I paid her $150 and am very happy with the site, check it out in my link below.

4. I submitted my first article last week and it got approved yesterday. That one article brought 40 people to my website in the first day and enough of them clicked on my adsense ad's to generate $4.89. You may not think $5 is alot but for my first day that is awesome for me.

5. I submitted four more articles yesterday and am finally showing up in the search engines now. I have started out on page 3 for the first keyword I was targeting. I plan to continue to post on blogs and submit articles until I am in the top 3. Once there, I plan to move to the next keyword and work on it.

I have only been live for one day so i dont have much progress other than the $5 from adsense but I'll keep you posted on how it goes. I would recommend that you build a site on something you are passionate about and then turn it into a money maker. Dont waste time trying to repeat someone elses success if your heart is not in it.

Keywords are the search terms people use when using Google, Yahoo etc.

SEO=Search Engine Optimizing (from the first letter of each word)

Involves everything necessary to get a good spot in Google and/or other search engines.

Try to get some free (or paid) ebooks somewhere about everything you donīt know. This is too much to explain here.
