|  Traditional SEO versus Social Media Marketing
Are we seeing the end of traditional SEO? Is it now being replaced by social media marketing and promotion? |

No, actually what you are going to see is the proliferation of social media outside of the normal places like facebook and twitter more and more, and back onto websites which are in turn getting seo, so there will be some fusion of the two.

Even with social media properties you still have to optimize for the search engines (i.e squiddo pages, hub pages, facebook fan pages, twitter accounts, etc). So there is still an SEO component even with social media.

| Re: Traditional SEO versus Social Media Marketing SEO and social media marketing are related, yet not identical, so there's no way one is going to replace the other sometime. SEO is optimization, i.e. making a site search engine friendly, whereas social media marketing (as one of the options used for online marketing) is by its essence advertising.
