This post is not going to be about how important it is to check your stats, but more so of the importance of checking them for a reason if you do Adsense marketing.
I had a rude awakening yesterday when - luckily for me - I went to check my stats program to see what the previous day had brought me in Adsense goodies. You can imagine how shocked I was when I found one user from one particular IP had been click bombing my site eight times over the course of 8 hours. I suppose I saw this abuse of my account just in time before getting banned by Google -even though I wasn't guilty of anything - but I have heard plenty of horror stories in my time online so I'm glad to have checked. Now, I'm guilty enough for not checking those stats every day and if I've learned one thing from that experience, it would be not to get too complacent with your account and leave it unchecked for days on end! Here is what I did as soon as I found the offense: 1.) I took off all Adsense ads from that particular site and added Clickbank affiliate products instead. 2.) I then contacted Google through their help form from within my account. 3.) Then I waited with baited breath to see whether my account was still good to go in their eyes. To my sheer relief I saw the earnings climb up again over the last 12 hours, which indicates that I'm still good with G. Thankfully! Monika |
