multiple backlinks from one domain, using different anchor text help!!!

I'm a little confused as to how much weight is given to multiple links. Suppose i sign up for a high pr site. i want to promote two keywords on my site: keyword A, keyword b.

can i have two links and will they both be given equal weight?

"a href = "mysite">keyword A</a>
"a href = "mysite">keyword b</a>

or will i be penalized because they are both pointing to the same page on my site.

If the backlinks are from the same page, the weight would be less. If the backlinks are from different pages the effect would be better. Really doesn't matter where it links to in your site.

If the source page has more backlinks pointed to other sites as well, that would reduce the weight as well.

what if i point each link from the same source page to different pages on my domain.

<a href ="mysite/index.html">keyword a</a>
<a href ="mysite/aboutus.html">keyword b</a>

also, if i include the two keywords in one link. does google know that its two keywords and gives me credit for both?

Don't put two links out to your site from the same page on the same site.

Hey

It's always better to have links from different pages than from the same page. What I can suggest is, keyword A leads to your homepage, keyword B leads to an opt in page. Then, when you build backlinks from another site, switch the keywords around if they let u have 2 links.

I've been doing exactly this, and instead of speculation and baseless directives can offer you some results from my tests.

Although I can't answer the weight question because I would somehow have to test both options (one link vs both links) and compare them and I can't think how I could do that.

I've been using two phrases of three words each, four words total.

i.e. a_b_c and a_b_d if you see what I mean.

Results so far, from I guess maybe 40-50 link pairs over about 6 weeks:

a_b_c ... #78 of 1.30 million
a_b_d ... #21 of 1.13 million
a_b ....... #56 of 3.77 million

Bouncing around a bit but generally creeping upwards.

Note that these are SHORT TAIL. I am page one for may longer tail keyword phrases.

This is a static site, ~20 pages, on a new domain with no fresh content since inception.

Part of a test of a very competitive niche. Once you get going you can easily monitor results through keyword hits in your analytics and positions in the SERPS. Ready, fire, aim right?
